"Avalon" is a Royal Lowell designed, Downeast boat custom built by Shannon Boat Company in Bristol, RI. She should not be confused with a Shannon Voyager. The Voyager model is a different design and layout. "Avalon's linage traces back to the Bruno Stillman 35, Harris Cuttyhunk 36 and the Nauset 36.
"Avalon" underwent a complete Hull Up Refit in 2018 when every system on the vessel was updated with "new" including all electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing, upholstery, canvas, instrumentation and propulsion.
The interior is handcrafted in the classic Herreshoff style of white surfaces mixed with varnished hardwood joinery including the solid teak & holly cabin sole. Every space available has been made accessible to maximize storage with drawers, doors and lockers.
Entering the main cabin the salon has port and starboard settees with a centerline drop-leaf table. Both settees extend for that little extra room for when they are used as berths.
Forward in the salon is the lower helm station with seat to starboard and the companion's navigation seat with flip-up chart table. Both of the seatbacks fold down for additional flat surfaces for use when entertaining or just lounging.
The very efficient U-shape galley is down and to port but is open above so is not isolated from the main cabin.
Across from galley is an enclosed head that is unique in a boat of this size as it has a separate stall shower.
Forward is the owner's stateroom with an offset queen berth, with a custom memory foam mattress & linens, hanging locker, drawers, shelves, lockers and screens for opening ports and the overhead hatch.
"Avalon" attracts attention everywhere she goes and she has won multiple Platinum Awards at the Antique & Classic Boat Society's annual festival held at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St Michael's, MD.
A comfortable, stable and efficient cruising platform, "Avalon" has cruised the Triangle Loop, Downeast Maine, the length of the Chesapeake Bay and is ready for more adventures with her new owners.
