SHANNON 53HPS “OHANA” 

This custom Shannon 53 High Powered Sailor is based on the Shannon 53, with many unique changes especially made for this knowledgeable sailboat owner. OHANA is a luxury ketch that draws a mere 4 ft. 9 in. and sails or powers (TWIN YANMAR ENGINES) at a comfortable 9 to 10 knots. It has comfortable inside steering with full 270 degrees windows as well as upper deck steering with port and starboard destroyer type wheels and dual Glendenning controls. This ketch rig yacht includes Leisure Furl hydraulic main boom, a Leisure Furl standard offshore mizzen boom with fully battened Doyle mainsail and mizzen, a genoa and yankee. All sheets and halyards are led aft to the upper helm station’s electric power halyard and sheet winches. OHANA has a dinghy stored on the upper deck with a Nautical Structures davit system. The upper deck has large port and starboard seating with two foldout tables as well as comfortable helm seating for two on each side. There is also a refrigerator with a slide out drawer and external stereo speakers for a great entertainment area.

Other unique features are the port and starboard companionway midship entrances, the large aft owner’s cabin with the aft “porch” entrance and large sliding window. A beautiful and well thought out interior layout with galley and adjoining table with seating for four. A very comfortable “V” berth in front cabin with adjoining shower/ head and vanity. Large hanging lockers in both cabins with plenty of storage cabinets and drawers throughout. This yacht is designed for extended cruising yet is easy to handle as a daysailor.
