Sea-Doo FISH PRO: BoatTEST Review
Overview
The Sea-Doo Fish Pro addresses the challenge of creating a shallow draft fishing boat that can reach speeds exceeding 50 miles per hour, remain easily trailable, and maintain safety for family use. This watercraft is more than a personal watercraft with fishing accessories; it is purpose-built for anglers seeking versatility, performance, and stability.
Exterior Design and Fishing Features
The Fish Pro features an 11.5-inch longer aft deck that enhances fishing space and improves stability in rough waters. This deck incorporates the Link quick latch mounting system, which accommodates a 13.5-gallon cooler at the front and offers flexibility with various accessories such as a 4.5-gallon gas caddy or storage container. The craft supports two sizes of Link coolers, allowing anglers to customize storage according to their needs. Additional fishing amenities include a recessed work surface, four rod holders with both vertical and angled mounts in multiple positions, trolling slots, and dedicated tackle and bait storage areas. The hull design, featuring Sea-Doo's proprietary ST3 hull, contributes to enhanced stability and handling in challenging water conditions.
Comfort and Usability
Comfort has been thoughtfully integrated into the Fish Pro's design. The seat is optimized for facing aft or sideways, facilitating a comfortable fishing posture. Side footwells are angled and equipped with extended non-skid padding that extends up the gunwales, making sitting sideways more secure and comfortable while fishing. Additional practical features include direct-access front storage, a watertight phone holder with Bluetooth stereo connectivity, and a 7.6-inch digital display that controls a trolling mode with nine preset speed settings to adapt to varying currents and wind conditions.
Power and Performance
Measuring 147 inches in length overall with a beam of 49.4 inches, the Sea-Doo Fish Pro weighs 856 pounds and is powered by a naturally aspirated Rotax engine delivering 155 horsepower. The ST3 hull design ensures the craft handles well even in turbulent conditions, such as those found at Miami's Hullover Inlet. The Fish Pro offers features like braking and reverse, enhancing maneuverability. Additionally, it can be equipped with a ski tow pylon, expanding its versatility beyond fishing to include recreational riding.
Conclusion
The Sea-Doo Fish Pro successfully combines the speed and agility of a personal watercraft with the functionality and stability required for serious fishing. Its thoughtful design, versatile accessory options, and robust performance make it a compelling choice for anglers seeking a multi-purpose, family-friendly watercraft capable of handling diverse conditions.
