The Santa Cruz 50's were designed by boat wizard, Bill Lee. He believes Fast is Fun, and this vessel has been carefully engineered and constructed for speed and safety. Bill Lee has proven over the years with his success in big boat races, that by using well known proven materials and methods, quality craftsman and thoughtful design you can have a light, strong, safe, and fast boat. The hand-laminated, multiple layered hull and deck have vacuum bagged balsa core providing stiffness and strength without unnecessary weight. Her keel is solid lead casting encased in fiberglass, bolted and bonded to the hull for extra crunch protection. Navtec rod rigging and U bolt chain-plates are used on the triple spreader tapered mast for maximum strength. All bulkheads and interior cabinetry are bonded directly to the hull and woodwork finished in top quality mahogany plywood.
