Threebeans is the ninth, and last produced, of the carbon-fiber Santa Cruz 37s.
Launched in 2009, no expense has been spared, and no detail overlooked, in making this an exceptional yacht, capable of blistering speed under sail, yet uncompromising in comforts and conveniences usually found on larger, more expensive, and yes, much slower boats.
Her carbon fiber hull, deck and mast make this a strong, stiff and lightweight vessel. On deck, she features a wide open cockpit, twin steering wheels, and well-placed sail and rig controls. She can be single-handed with ease, cruised by a couple, or raced with a full crew. A sistership was first to finish and first in class in the 2015 Transpac, and this boat has numerous Long Island Sound class and overall victories. Yet her race-boat appearance and performance hides a comfortable, airy and well thought out interior.
With a rigorous maintenance program, including inside winter storage for both the boat and the rig, this boat shows as new. She has also been modified and strengthened, including a stiffened keel structure and new rudder and bearings, all in preparation for a Bermuda Race where she suffered not a single gear failure other than a broken computer mouse!
