Overview

The Regal 43 SAV (Sports Activity Vessel) is a versatile new model designed to combine day cruising, overnight luxury, and sport fishing capabilities. Recently tested offshore in the waters off Key Largo, Florida, this vessel demonstrated its adaptability and performance in a demanding deep-sea fishing environment, targeting mahi-mahi around floaters in the Gulf Stream.

Fishing Experience and Deck Layout

The 43 SAV's fishing functionality was thoroughly tested during an active day chasing mahi-mahi. The boat features a spacious aft deck with ample room for multiple anglers, including a centrally located rocket launcher rod holder and a bait station for efficient catch-and-release operations. Two pressurized 25-gallon live wells keep bait fresh, while large 60-gallon fish boxes with gas-assisted lids provide secure storage for the day's catch. Side doors and wide walkways facilitate easy movement around the vessel, and a large swim platform at the transom offers additional space for handling fish or water access. The deck also includes opposing flip-down bench seating for relaxation when not fishing.

Technology and Amenities

The boat is equipped with multiple Garmin displays, including a radar system optimized to detect birds and debris indicative of fish presence. Six wireless radio remotes are strategically placed throughout the boat, allowing convenient control of audio systems from anywhere on board. The wet bar area features dual grills with easy-clean surfaces and drainage, a sink, refrigerator storage on both sides, and drawer space. An outdoor 43-inch ultra-bright smart TV is housed in the hardtop and can be deployed for entertainment or to display navigation data. Additional amenities include chiller boxes and an ice maker to keep refreshments cold.

During the test outing, the 43 SAV proved its fishability by accommodating six people and managing multiple simultaneous fishing lines with ease. The crew successfully hooked and landed several mahi-mahi, demonstrating the boat's functional fishing features and spacious deck layout. After a day of productive fishing, the team enjoyed freshly grilled catch prepared on board, highlighting the vessel's well-thought-out amenities for entertaining.
