Finally, in 2012, they set sail from Lake Champlain, Vermont and for the next three years, they cruised both the Florida east and west coasts, traveled to the Bahamas twice. SAO MIGUEL's extensive updating included a new Yanmar diesel (installed in 2011) that now has just 1,015 hours; all new electrical wiring; solar panels; Adler-Barbour refrigeration; and full electronics. "She sails very well on all points of sail and does not need much wind to reach hull speed, which is 7.29 nautical miles," her owners report. With her classic profile, and stem-to-stern overhaul, SAO MIGUEL will turn heads at any dock. Her interior is lovely and makes her look as though she had just emerged from the factory, with beautiful joinery, spotless bilges, and carefully installed equipment. She could set sail tomorrow, if need be, and not miss a beat.
