In 1977, a group within the NYYC wished to get back to one-design racing. A Doug Peterson design was adopted for the new class to be known as the NY 40. Palmer Johnson built 21 of these boats from hulls molded at New Orleans Marine, and in 1978, the fledgling class got its own start on the Annual Cruise. Altair is #8 and is being offered so the present owner can move up in size. Her bright work is well maintained throughout the cabin and on-deck. She has a spacious salon with port and starboard settees, Nav station, galley, forward V-berth, aft quarter berths and a head. She is actively sailed and ready to sail away.
