Note that the 55 was restyled in 1986 with a new flybridge, a solid front windshield, and a black mask running around the deckhouse. The foredeck seat was also eliminated in 1986 for a more streamlined appearance. Whereas most big sportfishermen in this size range require the heavier 12-cylinder diesels to reach (or even approach) the magic 30 knot number, the Ocean 55 SS got the job done with lighter, more efficient (and far less expensive) 8V92s. Top speed with the 735hp versions of the 8V92s is 31 knots, and sheââ?¬â?¢ll cruise at a fast 27 knots. A total of 170 of these yachts were built making her the most popular Ocean models ever produced.
