From 1975 to 1984, Oy Nautor AB, in Pietarsaari, Finland, built 70 of these magnificent sailing yachts. Founded in 1966, Nautor's goal was to produce yachts capable of both cruising and racing, by using "a high-thickness fiberglass mold. At the heart of the concept was quality, the core focus of Nautor's production process throughout its history." Beginning production in 1975 and designed by Sparkman & Stephens, it was the hull design of the SWAN 47 that "positioned Swan as the synonymous of quality and elegance, of enduring reliability and of lines which seems to challenge the laws of time."
Till was launched in 1981, and is hull number 47 of the 70 classic Swan 47s. She responds to the slightest puff, and with a removable inner forestay, tacking in light winds is a breeze. This boat has a 7.5 kt. hullspeed, and with 33,000lbs. of momentum, she really does become that racer. When the breeze is up, she really comes alive. With a jiffy reefing system on the main and Harken furling genoa, she cuts through the waves with comfort and ease, even at speeds approaching ten knots.
