Condition detail
This 1979 Marine Trader 40 Double Cabin is in excellent condition regarding its mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, which are like new. The vessel has recently undergone a repaint of the bottom hull. While there are some signs of wear and tear expected with its age, all features and accessories were functioning correctly at the time this advertisement was created. There was a water leak near the helm area, which has since been fixed. However, the seller has not replaced the damaged wood paneling. Additionally, the upper deck/flying bridge requires work and all the wood trim inside needs to be refinished, I would call this a project boat.

Sturdy Construction: Built with a solid fiberglass hull, the Marine Trader 40 is known for its durability and seaworthiness. This design offers good stability in various sea conditions.

Economical Diesel Power: The boat typically features a reliable diesel engine, providing fuel efficiency and a long cruise range, which is particularly beneficial for long-distance cruising.

Classic Aesthetic: The traditional trawler design not only offers aesthetic appeal but also practical features such as wide, accessible decks and a raised bridge for superior visibility when piloting.

Good Repurposing Potential: The boat's classic lines and sturdy build allow for customization or retrofitting, making it a versatile choice for those looking to personalize their vessel.

Cons

Age-Related Maintenance: Being a vessel from 1979, potential buyers should consider the age when it comes to maintenance and repairs. Older systems may require upgrades or replacements.

Weight: The Marine Trader 40 is relatively heavy for a 40-foot boat, which may affect performance and agility. This weight can also influence fuel efficiency, particularly in rougher waters.

Limited Speed: As a trawler-style boat, it is not designed for high-speed travel, which may be a downside for those looking for faster cruising options.
