The MacGregor M26 Cruising Sailboat is very popular because it has the ability to cruise economically at high speed and comfortably using either power or sail. The MacGregor M26 sleeps 6 and the accommodations are comfortable for a day trip or extended weekend getaway. Some features include full standing headroom, wheel steering, an enclosed head, galley, built in safety flotation, rotating mast that can rig in 10 minutes, Genoa furling and more. The MacGregor 26M is just under 8 feet wide and can be trailered legally everywhere in the US. Once the 26 is launched it requires only 9 in. of water to float, so it can sail in places other boats simply cannot go. The 26 handles beautifully and is one of the best handling and fastest trailerable cruising sailboats available. The big twin rudders give excellent control, and the boat is so light it requires less sail area to sail fast.
This boat has been sensibly upgraded from factory stock with a new fully battened 7oz. mainsail on harken track, Roller furling 150% genoa, and dyneema standing rigging with carbon spreaders. The boat also has a full suite of the latest electronics all completely integrated, including Garmin 740s chart-plotter, Raymarine EV-1 autopilot, Maretron WSO100 wind instrument, SIMRAD RS-35 VHF + AIS and remote handset, and an engine management brought to the chartplotter. The boat was bottom painted in 2013 and has been trailered out of the water except when in use. No modifications have been made which change the look of the boat from new stock.
