"Quest" has had exceptional owners that have taken great care of her. Her life started on the Chesapeake Bay and her previous owner moved her to Lake Champlain where she lived until the present owners bought her and trucked her back to the Chesapeake. She has been hauled out the last two winters and anything needed attended to. Low hours on her single Cummins 450HP dsl engine, Onan Generator, reverse cycle AC and HT, Bow thruster etc. Canvas cockpit Tonneau cover, canvas hardtop extension, Bridge deck enclosure helps extend her season.
Designer Mark Ellis, is best known as the designer of the Nonsuch line of boats, although he designed a wide range of sailboats and power boats. He started his training with Phil Rhodes, Ted Hood and C&C, which is about as good prep as one could get. He was the master of the sheer line as seen on the Legacy 40 with her proud bow and deep V she handles incredibly well in rough seas and looks good doing it.
- The Legacy Express is a very versatile vessel. she has a large cockpit that can accommodate multiple chairs, has a floor fitting for a table, multiple hatches for additional storage and 2 large Frigid-Rigid refrigeration boxes that not only give you a ton of food storage for extended cruising but also serve as additional seating in the cockpit. Her hardtop is surrounded on 3 sides by opening side windows and a center opening windshield as well as overhead opening hatches for excellent visibility, light and ventilation. Her bridge deck can be fully enclosed with Eisenglass and canvas, making this area a comfortable salon that is both heated and air-conditioned as well as offering an L-shaped settee, port side mates seat and a double wide helm seat with storage under.
- Her centerline companionway leads down to an additional L-shaped dinette with table to starboard that can converts to a double berth for guests. Opposite to port is the U-shaped galley and forward of the galley is the day access to the head with vanity, toilet and separate shower stall. An additional door gives access to the forward Master Stateroom. The Master stateroom is all the way forward with a centerline queen berth, cabinets outboard and lovely teak ceiling strips line the hull side adding warmth to the stateroom. For storage there are drawers under the berth, Cedar lined hanging lockers port and starboard, port side access to the head and a large storage area aft of the berth to starboard. Overhead hatch for light and ventilation as well as opening portlights in the cabin sides.
- Her interior is very welcoming and done in the "Herreshoff" style with white bulkheads and cabinets and trim in teak. She is bright yet cozy below deck. Lovely teak and holly sole throughout as well as overhead hatches and opening cabin side portlights, again offering great ventilation and light.
- She has a low maintenance exterior with no wood. She has stainless steel handrails, fiberglass decks and nonskid, as well as rubber cap rails. Her classic Design by Mark Ellis stands out in a crowd with a proud bow and lovely sheer line she is the epitome of a classic Down East design.
- Quest is a lovely vessel that has had the best of care by her present and very knowledgable owners. You will see as you go through the listing of all the upgrades they have made.
She has a great U-shaped Sea Galley below to port. Cabinets outboard, above the stove and under the sink with drawers as well as a large opening portlight for ventilation.
