The Kaufman 47 was designed as a fast cruiser on the design board of F. Michael Kaufman Associates in Annapolis. Together with Robert Ladd, the Kaufman/Ladd team designed a number of highly regarded boats; Skye 51, Skye 54, Finya 53 and the CT47/49. Most of these elegant cruisers were built in the eighties in Taiwan and many at the venerable yard of Kha Shing.
There are a number of these yachts currently cruising the seven seas, as they were some of the fastest, most comfortable and elegant yachts of their day.
Begorrah is in overall good condition and has a number of updates and upgrades. She is a cutter rig with good sails, and low hour 2006 Westerbeke diesel engine. With her under five foot shoal draft, diesel generator, air conditioning, and microwave, she makes cruising and living aboard a breeze. Her 2004 updated electronics and good canvas complete the a package.
Begorrah has a teak deck which is reported to be original. Her seven old world style deck prisms have recently been rebedded. This yacht with a new teak deck would be asking $80,000 or more. However, the owner has decided to offer her at her current asking price representing a $30,000 credit that would allow a new owner to sail her for a few years, then have the option of replacing with a new teak, or to remove and refinish with a non-skid fiberglass deck surface.
You will be hard pressed to find any other 47 foot performance cruiser offering this level of build quality with Begorrah's amenities at this price.
