Equipment List

Technical Specifications & Hull Construction

The hull structure of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45 DS is built around a solid, hand-laid fiberglass reinforced plastic shell bonded to an internal structural grid framework. This grid matrix absorbs loads from the rig, keel, and machinery beds, ensuring long-term hull rigidity. Structural bulkheads are tab-bonded and mechanically fastened directly to the hull side shell and deck floor.

The deck utilizes a balsa-cored composite construction that maximizes stiffness and thermal insulation while keeping topside weight low. To preserve structural integrity in coastal waters, the shoal-draft fin keel incorporates an iron ballast bulb that delivers a high righting moment at a modest 5' 5" draft.

The interior living space on Happy Now highlights Jeanneau's Deck Saloon concept, which emphasizes light, space, and functionality. Moving forward from the companionway, the main saloon features panoramic wrap-around windows that allow natural light to fill the living area. To starboard, a U-shaped settee surrounds a dual-height dining table that converts into a double berth. Opposite the dinette to port, a full-length settee sits adjacent to a forward-facing navigation station equipped with a custom DC control panel and monitoring displays.

The forward guest suite contains a centerline queen berth, hanging storage lockers, dressing seats, and private access to the forward head compartment, which includes a Jabsco electric freshwater toilet and vanity. Moving aft through the saloon past the galley, the full-beam master suite expands across the widest point of the hull. This master stateroom includes a centerline queen bed, flanking settee seating, twin hanging lockers, and large hull ports. It also features a private ensuite head equipped with a separate stall shower enclosed by a Plexiglas door.

Interior climate management is provided by two 16,000 BTU Dometic reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating units installed in 2023. In July 2025, digital soft-start controllers were fitted to both compressor lines. These soft-start units reduce peak start-up current, enabling both air conditioners to run efficiently on generator power, or shore power.

Galley

  • Galley Location / Configuration: Portside aft companionway position; L-shaped secure layout
  • Countertop Material: Solid surface resin countertops with raised teak fiddle rails
  • Sink & Plumbing: Double stainless steel sinks with covers, pressurized hot/cold faucet with switchable back up electric water pressure pumps for redundancy.
  • Cooktop & Oven: ENO 4-burner gimballed propane stove with thermostatically controlled oven
  • Primary Refrigerator: Vitrifrigo 12V/110V top & stainless front-loading fridge w/ dual bins
  • Primary Freezer: Vitrifrigo 12V top-loading freezer w/ dual digital thermostats

  • Water Filter / Pressures: Rainman water filter and high-pressure hose renewed Feb 2026
  • Galley Sink Seacock: New Groco 2-inch bronze thru-hull & ball valve seacock (Aug 2025)

The L-shaped galley is positioned to port at the foot of the companionway steps, providing a safe, comfortable working space while underway. Modern appliances include an ENO four-burner gimballed propane stove and oven, connected to dual propane lockers in the aft cockpit. Refrigeration needs are handled by a combination unit featuring a Vitrifrigo stainless steel front- and top-loading refrigerator alongside a separate top-loading freezer. The freezer system utilizes dual digital thermostats, allowing it to function as either a deep freezer or a secondary refrigerator depending on cruising requirements. Top refrigerator and freezer door gaskets were replaced in July 2025.

Freshwater production is supplemented by an installed Rainman 120V high-output desalinator capable of producing over 30 gallons of fresh water per hour. The watermaker is integrated into the bilge and settee storage areas and runs directly off the inverter or generator. Plumbing reliability was updated in August 2025 with the installation of a Groco 2-inch bronze thru-hull and ball-valve seacock for the galley sink drain.
