Feral Soul is ready for cruising! Sheââ?¬â?¢s got the generator, solar panels, water maker, storm ââ?¬Å?shuttersââ?¬ï¿½, wood burning stove for northern latitudes, composting toilet, two swim ladders, three furling sails - fourth with lazy jacks, PLENTY of storage, and a 100hp Chrysler Nissan Diesel engine that was just serviced. In fact she is in great shape mechanically and all of her electronics work (except for the VHF in the master cabin). Previous owner added the stove and custom nav station with lots of cabinets.

Sellers bought her less than a year ago then decided life was too busy for such a big vessel and so they are looking to downsize. Recent Surveys available to qualified buyers.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1978 Islander Freeport 41 is a classic cruising sailboat known for its sturdy construction and comfortable accommodations. Here are some of the pros and cons associated with this model:

Pros

Solid Construction: Built with a robust fiberglass hull and a full keel, the Islander Freeport 41 offers excellent durability and stability, making it suitable for extended cruising.

Spacious Interior: The boat features ample living space below deck, including comfortable sleeping quarters, a functional galley, and a roomy salon, ideal for family or crew.

Good Sailing Performance: With a cutter rig and moderate sail area, it handles well in a variety of conditions, offering a balance between performance and ease of handling.

Traditional Aesthetics: Classic lines and a timeless design appeal to sailors who appreciate vintage style and craftsmanship.

Well-Equipped: Many models come outfitted with practical amenities and storage, making long voyages more convenient.

Cons

Older Design: Being a 1978 model, some aspects of the design and onboard systems may feel outdated compared to modern sailboats.

Maintenance: As with many older vessels, maintenance can be more demanding, requiring regular upkeep of the engine, rigging, and hull.

Weight: The full keel and solid build contribute to a heavier displacement, which can result in slower speeds in light wind conditions.

Limited Maneuverability: The full keel design, while stable, may reduce agility, especially in tight marinas or when performing quick maneuvers.

Interior Layout: While spacious, the interior design reflects the era's style and may not include some modern comforts or optimized use of space seen in newer boats.
