The Hurricane FD226 represents a hybrid approach to deck boat design, blending the handling characteristics of a fiberglass bow rider with the spaciousness and layout typical of pontoon boats. This innovative model, known as the Fun Deck, aims to offer versatility and comfort, making it suitable for both recreational boating and fishing activities.
Exterior Design and Deck Layout
The FD226 features an open foredeck measuring 6 feet 4 inches by 7 feet 1 inch, providing ample space for passengers or gear. The cockpit is surrounded by fences and rails reminiscent of pontoon boats, enhancing safety and contributing to the boat's roomy feel. A forward gate, 2 feet 1 inch wide, allows easy access to the bow area, where double-wide seats measuring 3 feet 4 inches flank the space, each with storage compartments beneath hinged cushions. The cockpit deck includes a large, fiberglass-lined sole storage locker running the entire length, offering substantial storage capacity, although additional deck hatches would improve accessibility.
