Sundance is truly an exceptional yacht.  She was custom designed by Ted Hood and built without any regard to cost by Hodgdon Bros. of East Boothbay and Ted Hood's Little Harbor Yachtyard in Marblehead.  Basically the bare hull and deck were built by Little Harbor and then shipped to Maine for completion.  The design was so well done that the Hinckley Company bought this design for their new Hinckley 43.  However, they did not offer the 43 in an aft cabin model and their interior joinerywork and detail cannot even come close to that done by Hodgdon Bros.  Sundance was built under the supervision of Jim Stevens of the famous Gousy& Stevens yard in East Boothbay and the original owner's interests were represented by the well known surveyor Capt. Guilford Full of Marblehead.

Sundance, originally Candide, has had only three owners.  Owned by the same family over the last 30 years she had been solely cruised.  Her teak decks show no severe damage below or above but look in need of work to this broker.

Sundance's interior arrangement offers complete privacy for a minimum of two couples or a maximum of seven individuals.  Her extremely shallow draft allows access to the most shallow harbors in the Bahamas, Chesapeake Bay, Cape Cod, etc.

Pros

Sturdy Build: The Hood / Little Harbor 43 features a robust fiberglass hull and quality craftsmanship, providing durability and reliability for extended cruising.

Spacious Interior: With well-thought-out layouts, the boat offers comfortable living spaces, including ample berths, a functional galley, and generous storage, making it ideal for long voyages.

Reputable Brand: Hood / Little Harbor has a strong reputation for building quality cruising yachts, which can enhance resale value and owner confidence.

Cons

Older Design: As a 1976 model, some design elements may feel dated compared to modern yachts, such as less efficient hull shapes or outdated rigging systems.

Maintenance Requirements: Given its age, the boat may require ongoing maintenance or upgrades to systems like electrical, plumbing, or rigging to meet current standards.

Weight and Speed: The moderate displacement that offers comfort can also result in a heavier boat that may not achieve higher speeds compared to lighter, more performance-oriented designs.

Limited Modern Amenities: Original equipment and interior features might lack some of the conveniences found on contemporary cruisers, potentially necessitating refits for enhanced comfort.

Availability of Parts: Some components or specific fittings may be harder to source due to the boat's vintage status.
