"Carrie L." was built by Zahniser's Yachting Center in Solomons, MD from the original hull and sail plan by L. Francis Herreshoff for Diddikai. "Carrie L." is a lean and powerful double-ender of the same family as Herreshoff's Dulcinea and the lighter displacement Rocinante, designed to sail fast and handle well in a variety of conditions. Modifications to the original design include a lengthened cabin trunk that trades deck space for more room below, a forward hatch taken from another Herreshoff design, and a newer rigging plan using more modern fittings geared toward high performance sailing. Two owners since new.
