WHY IN THE HECK DID I EVER BUY THIS BOAT? Answer: There is not enough bling on planet earth to make a 27 ft foot boat as safe, comfortable, and fishable as a 45' HATTERAS. I thought I was going to die offshore doing what I loved, and it was time for something more substantial. I looked at many boats but the research that I did pointed out that this hull was made when Rockwell International owned Hatteras and used solid fiberglass with zero wood coring. Built to last 100 years. This is one of the strongest hulls ever made and commonly called a "battle axe". The 660hp Caterpillar engines, Twin Disc transmissions, running gear, and generator came out of a new 54-foot Sea Ray that had a galley fire and was installed in 2003-2004. The prior owner spent $380,000 on the refit and upgrades and did a beautiful job.

The boat is very fast (33 knots) for its size and weight and really handles big seas well. I installed trolling valves which work very well for slow trolling rockfish and when landing big offshore fish. This boat has proved itself whether taking 18 people out to watch fireworks or 10 people offshore, it's never left me stranded. The two VHF radios, radar, life raft, sea anchor (18-foot parachute drone) provide peace of mind when a storm is bearing down. Everything is in working order. Engines and transmissions run strong and have no problems. I really love this boat but am now physically unable to use it as I once did.
