1981 GULFSTAR 44 MK II CENTER COCKPIT
The Gulfstar 44 is a true bluewater cruiser. She won't pound, and is a comfortable ride in a seaway. She'll point higher than her vintage lets on. This boat can take a lot more than you can, and that's what all offshore sailors should want out of their boat. The big genoa powers her up well; 180 mile days in the trades aren't unheard of.
The interior is about as comfortable as a 44ft monohull can get, she's beamy midships. Massive aft berth with ensuite head w/ separate shower stall, V-berth with ensuite wet head. Port settee folds out to a double berth. It's a good boat for the taller sailors out there, with at least 6'4" headroom throughout (minus the walkthrough). The cockpit is very spacious, and you can fully stretch out. A great place for sundowners.
"If you are looking for a comfortable, well-built center-cockpit cruiser but can't find one that you can afford, track down a Gulfstar 44; you'll be pleasantly surprised."
- John Kretschmer, legendary offshore sailor
"One of the best designs ever."
-Richard Jordan, yacht reviewer
