Other Grand Banks boats for sale in Maryland, United States
The 49 Eastbay set the bar for a high performance sea boat that is also luxurious and one you can be proud to own, and "True Blue" is an especially RARE and well-kept example. Built originally as an HX (Soft aft bulkead in salon), "True Blue" was converted into an SX (Salon Express) with the addition of a hard aft bulkhead and door. She still retains the original teak sole, which is covered with a custom-fit carpet, but has the benefit of having a true helm-deck salon in which to comfortably enjoy the ride in any weather conditions. She boasts a high-gloss teak finish throughout the salon and belowdecks, and the more popular 2-stateroom and 2-head layout below. Powered by the CAT 660hp CAT 3196TA's (only 1555 original hours), this beauty slips along at an easy 25 knot cruise at 1900 RPMs (70% load), burning only 40gph. The list of recent upgrades and additions is quite extensive, and includes in part:
- Awlgrip painted hull
- 1,000 hour service completed (motors were re-built by CAT in 2005 due to re-call)
- Raymarine electronics upgrade (see full specs for more)
- Upgraded hydraulic swim platform
- Headliner replaced
- Extensive electrical and wiring upgrade, including Inverter, Batteries, and Battery Chargers
- Hot water heater replaced
- New teak cockpit hatches
- Bottom soda-blasted last year
- Full canvas (cockpit cover and rail covers)
- New refrigerator and freezer working components
- New ice maker in salon
- SeaStar Hydraulic Steering System replaced
- Decks painted buff last year
- Sunpad on foredeck
- Fusion 3-zone stereo with remote added to helm deck
- New DVD player
- Line cutters added to shafts
- New windshield wipers
- Brightwork recently varnished
- Props pulled and tuned by Black Dog Propellers
....and so much more! "True Blue" is a very rare find in today's marketplace. Not only is she a fabulous performer in a heavy sea, but she will turn heads in every port that she visits as well. Offered by a true yachtsman who very much values and appreciates what he owns, the care and consideration she has received is immediately evident once aboard. Very nicely done!

The Biggest Pros and Cons
The 2000 Grand Banks 49 Eastbay is a classic trawler-style motor yacht known for its timeless design and solid craftsmanship. Here are some pros and cons to consider:
Pros
Classic Styling: The 49 Eastbay features the iconic Grand Banks semi-displacement hull and teak accents, offering a timeless and elegant appearance that many boaters appreciate.
Solid Construction: Built with high-quality materials and craftsmanship, this model is known for durability and seaworthiness, suitable for long-range cruising.
Spacious Interior: The layout includes comfortable accommodations with multiple staterooms, a full galley, and ample salon space, making it ideal for extended stays aboard.
Fuel Efficiency: Thanks to its semi-displacement hull design, the 49 Eastbay offers efficient fuel consumption for its size, allowing for longer cruising ranges.
Good Visibility: The elevated pilothouse design provides excellent visibility for safe navigation and ease of handling.
Cons
Aging Systems: As a 2000 model, some onboard systems such as electronics, plumbing, and mechanical components may require updates or maintenance.
Speed Limitations: The semi-displacement hull prioritizes fuel efficiency and comfort over speed, so top speeds are moderate compared to planing hull boats.
Maintenance Costs: The teak decks and wood trim, while beautiful, demand regular upkeep to maintain their appearance and prevent deterioration.
Limited Maneuverability: Larger size and hull design can make docking and tight maneuvering more challenging, especially for less experienced operators.
Interior Layout: While spacious, the interior design reflects the era’s style and may feel dated to some buyers who prefer modern layouts and finishes.
