Other Freedom boats for sale in Rhode Island, United States
Open up the pages of Ferenc Mate's "The World's Greatest Sailboats" and you'll quickly see some of the most iconic sailing vessels ever made, including Freedom Yachts. The Freedom 38 was designed by Gary Mull and first built in 1989 by Tillotson Pearson in Bristol, Rhode Island.
Chasseur has returned to her home waters after sailing extensively through the Bahamas and being maintained by her third set of owners. After being expeditiously cared for over that three year period she was sold to her current owner in the final weeks of our 2018 Summer sailing season.
Since being off the market, she has received every bit of attention her 2018 survey called for. Current ownership has invested significant time and money into making Chasseur a turn-key vessel for the 2019 sailing season- a list of those upgrades coming soon.
Truth be told, I've sailed Chasseur in August 2018 and recently been aboard in February 2019 and would say this vessel is immaculate. Chasseur would be the premier boat on my list if I was personally in the market for a boat in this class. You really shouldn't miss this opportunity.
2014 Awlcraft paint, 2015 Electronics Package, 2016 interior cushions, new deck hatches and opening ports, 2017 headliner, 2015 solar panel, 2015 windlass, 2015 davits, 2016 batteries, new running rigging and so much more. Includes inflatable West Marine dingy with 9.9 hp Mercury four-stroke outboard and all safety and cruising gear.
Off-Season attention includes the below details.
Contracted work by Ocean Link- new bilge pumps, main salon and aft heating systems and hot water upgraded
Engine Maintenance- complete tune up/review/analysis, change fluids, and rockers adjusted
Cosmetic upgrades include new sinks and countertop, teak refinishing, and a full interior/exterior detail, mast leak repair
New halyard system
West marine 10 foot dingy hard bottom Vessel is in turn key condition

Good Performance: Despite its cruising focus, the Freedom 38 delivers respectable sailing performance, especially upwind, thanks to its efficient hull shape and rig.

Cons
Limited Sail Plan Options: The unique free-standing rig limits customization and may affect performance in certain wind conditions compared to conventional rigs.
Heavier Displacement: Compared to more modern designs, the Freedom 38 can feel heavier, which might reduce speed in light airs.
Availability of Parts: Due to its unique rigging system and age, sourcing specific replacement parts may sometimes be challenging.
Interior Layout: While spacious, some sailors find the interior layout less optimized than newer models for modern cruising preferences.
Docking and Maneuvering: The larger size and weight may require more skill and attention when docking, especially in tight marinas.
