The Defever is a cruiser's trawler built for efficient and stable motoring. The Perkins diesel engines sip fuel cruising at 9 or 10 MPH, burning about 4 gallons per hour each. The boats displacement keel hull tracks well in various conditions, perfect for cruises to the islands, the Great Lakes, and for adventures on the Great Loop.
The two staterooms aboard are air conditioned as are the salon and the galley. The 16000 BTU air unit was installed in 2024 with new ducting to the aft stateroom, eliminating the need for two AC units.
Galley features include a full size refrigerator / freezer that runs on D/C or A/C power. The stove and oven are propane heated and the microwave runs on shore power or the on the generator.
For the captain, the upper and low helms are fully functional with helm steering and electronics. The captain has two Garmin units and a Simrad unit networked via NMEA 2000 connectivity. Windlass controls for the sizable Danforth style anchor control the retrieval using the IDEAL windlass. Anchor deployment is gravity drop method using the IDEAL.
Two aluminum fuel tanks total 300 gallons capacity for extended cruises. Freshwater capacity is 100 gallons.
The Isuzu 10 KW diesel generator powers the ship when away from shore power. Two 8D batteries provide storage for cabin power and the generator has its own battery.
