A unique boat to these parts of New England.
The Simmons Sea Skiff was designed to ply the waters off Cape Hatterras, fishing, trolling and with the ability to be launched and recovered off the beaches with breaking surf.
There is a long history of the seaworthiness of these little boats, originally designed and built by a cabinet maker. They originally built in North Carolina until they became quite ubiquitous around the whole lower mid Atlantic coast.
Since they are light, shallow drafted and easily manoeuvrable they were very well suited to those waters, eventually the flat bottom gained some deadrise to the entry sections and made them very popular to fishermen going offshore too.
This particular Sea Skiff was built by the reputable Belkow Yacht Company in Annapolis Maryland for a client, who used it in the Chesapeake.
The Okume hull is glassed with epoxy and well finished with Awlgrip, which has some very minor scuffing, while the bare teak rubrails are clad with brass for longevity and all deck cleats are flush mounted for a very nice clear feel.
Unique to this Simmons Skiff, is the stainless T-top, covering the centre console, which not only provides sun shade but also added grab handles for security when under way. The fore deck has storage beneath the sole and does also allow some lounging area. beneath the pilot seating is added storage for gear and fuel tank.
The 70 Hp Suzuki, 4 stroke outboard is in a well and has a skirt to minimise exhaust and spray entering the boat. The low engine low hours indicate little use and is why the boat is still in a remarkably good shape.
Additionally, the boat is equipped with a full winter cover and an EZ Loader single axle trailer.
Since this is quite a light boat, the whole set may be easily towed by most cars.
This sweet and dependable boat will make a very suitable coastal day tripper around Narragansett Bay and could easily get to Block Island or anywhere along the New England coast.
