This cutter rigged custom built Robert Perry design SP-48 was built by Wes Stanley of Enumclaw, WA.  She was built to the highest of standards and no expenses were spared.  If you are considering the Taiwanese CT version, you will find no comparison in quality & construction. This would be an ideal blue water yacht.  She cannot be compared to production sailboats of that era.  The solid teak throughout, along with the teak & holly sole, diesel stove, and wood fireplace make her warm and comfortable.  The centerline refrigerator, separate crew’s quarters, large diesel engine, self-furling main & head sail and easy access to everything on board make her an ideal, yet simple and strong cruising sailboat.

Spacious Interior: The interior layout is thoughtfully designed, providing ample living space with comfortable amenities. The generous galley, salon area, and sleeping quarters make it ideal for extended cruising or living aboard.

Performance Under Sail: The SP-48 is designed for a balance of speed and stability, making it a joy to sail. Its keels and rudder design contribute to its excellent handling abilities.

Cons

Age: As a vessel built in 1980, the SP-48 may require more maintenance than newer models. Potential buyers should be mindful of the overall condition and any upgrades or repairs needed.

Customization Variability: While custom builds mean unique features, they can also lead to variations in quality and layout. Prospective buyers should evaluate individual vessels carefully, as not all SP-48s will have the same attributes.

Cost of Upkeep: Due to its size and age, maintenance and upkeep can be higher compared to smaller or more modern yachts. Owners should budget for regular maintenance and potential upgrades.

Fuel Efficiency: While the sailing performance is commendable, the fuel efficiency when motoring may not match that of newer designs, which can impact long-distance cruising costs.

Limited Availability of Parts: Depending on the design choices made during the custom build, sourcing specific parts may be challenging, potentially complicating repairs.
