Vessel has run successful dolphin cruise/day charters for over 10 years
The design of the Daniel Webster Clements was inspire, to a great extent, by one of the legendary Gulf Coast "Biloxi" schooners, The Julia Delecruz, that was built in 1924. The Daniel Webster Clements keel was laid in 1994 at the Zirlott Boatbuilding Yard in Coden, Alabama near Mobile. She took four years to build and completed in 1998.
She has a displacement of 32 tons, a deck length of 54 feet and a sparred length of 72 feet. The beam is 17'9". She carries a steel centerboard and draws a little over six and half feet with the board down and three and half feet with the board up.
She is built with southern yellow pine that is pressure treated. The mast and bowsprit are solid pressure treated pine while the booms, gaffs, and topmast are laminated spruce for lightness.
The interior bulkheads and tongue and groove paneling are pressure treated pine. The cabin flooring is white oak.
The side decks are 40" wide and the roomy aft deck is 15 feet wide by 11 feet long. The deck space between the 2 cabins measures 16 feet wide by 6 feet long. The top cabin space makes great space for customers to sit on.
Forward the vessel carries a Lunenburg Foundry Ratchet Gypsy Windlass manufactured in Lunenburg Nova Scotia.
The centerboard is retractable and is lifted and lowered by a Thern Spur Gear hand winch model M452. The 1000 pound weight of the centerboard is carried by a hawse.
The vessel is steered using a Lunenburg Puritan Steerer No. 2 with a 32 inch bronze wheel.
The current owner has run successful dolphin cruise / day charters with the vessel for over 10 years.
