1985 Chris-Craft Scorpion 215/216WA "Stinger"
"Stinger" is a fully refit Chris-Craft Scorpion that has been methodically upgraded into a beautiful offshore platform, creating a truly one of a kind build and the nicest rendition of this cult classic you will find.
Originally reconfigured for outboard power, the hull has since been strengthened, updated, and dialed in through a series of upgrades completed between 2019 and 2026. The result is a standout platform that runs with confidence in open water.
Power comes from a Mercury 225 FourStroke with approximately 402 hours. The boat cruises comfortably around 30 knots and tops out at 40+ knots , giving it the range and speed to make island runs, cover ground offshore, or move efficiently along the coast. Hydraulic steering, trim tabs, autopilot and Mercury SmartCraft controls with Active Trim make the boat easy to handle whether running solo or with a full crew.
At the helm, the setup is modern and functional. A Simrad NSS evo3 12" display is paired with Simrad Halo radar and NAC-2 autopilot, along with a Navico Totalscan thru-hull transducer. An ICOM M424G VHF and Shakespeare Galaxy antenna handle communication. Everything is laid out with usability in mind-clean, uncluttered, and easy to run.
The fishing package reflects a serious, professional approach. A stainless tower completed by the infamous Pro-Fab featuring 12 rod holders provides visibility and storage, while a Pacific Edge bait tank with integrated lighting and viewing windows keeps bait lively all day long. A Rule 1600 GPH livewell pump, Jabsco washdown system, four Scotty 12v receptacles, and multiple Boat Outfitters hatches round out a setup that is equally suited for local kelp, island fishing, or offshore trips.
The fuel system was upgraded with a custom 100-gallon stainless tank, extending range and making the boat far more usable offshore. During that process and subsequent work, the cockpit was refinished, non-skid was updated, and structural reinforcement was added in key areas including the tower, rod holders, and the tow point. Wiring has been recently cleaned up and organized, contributing to a reliable and detail oriented feel throughout the boat.
Deck hardware and onboard systems have been selected with durability, function, and performance in mind. A Lewmar polished stainless anchor and Pro-Fish 700 windlass are controlled from the helm. Lumitec full-spectrum underwater lighting, forward and aft LED spreader lights, and cockpit and cabin LED lighting make the boat equally comfortable at night. An ACR RCL-95 searchlight provides additional visibility when needed. Power management is handled by a NOCO Genius onboard system with shore power, and the boat is equipped with an AFI dual trumpet air horn and Simrad SonicHub audio.
The finish work ties everything together. Custom diamond-stitched upholstery, upgraded helm seating, and a full tower and helm canvas cover give the boat a clean, cohesive look without taking away from its purpose-built feel.
The boat is offered with a dual-axle galvanized trailer with new hubs, along with spare parts including windshield panes, emblems, and additional accessories.
"Stinger" is not a project or a lightly updated hull-it is a boat that has been run, improved, and perfected over time.
It shows as a one of a kind, well-thought-out, and turn-key platform that is ready to be used immediately, whether that means fishing, cruising, or spending multiple days on the water.
