1985 Chris-Craft Scorpion 215/216WA "Stinger"
"Stinger" is a fully refit Chris-Craft Scorpion that has been methodically upgraded into a standout offshore platform-creating a truly one-of-a-kind build and the cleanest, most complete rendition of this hull you will find.
Originally reconfigured for outboard power, the boat features a custom transom and extended deck layout with integrated Pacific Edge bait tank, along with G10 composite backing throughout all major load points. The hull has been strengthened, updated, and dialed in through a series of upgrades completed between 2019 and 2026. The result is a gorgeous platform that runs with the utmost confidence in open water.
Power comes from a Mercury 225 FourStroke with approximately 402 hours, paired with Mercury SmartCraft DTS controls and Active Trim, along with UFLEX hydraulic steering and Bennett trim tabs. The boat cruises comfortably at 30 knots and tops out at 40+ knots, giving it the range and speed to make island runs, cover serious ground offshore, or move efficiently along the coast.
At the helm, the setup is clean and purpose-built. A Simrad NSS evo3 12" display is paired with Simrad Halo radarand Simrad NAC-2 autopilot, along with a Navico Totalscan SS141L-TS thru-hull transducer. Communication is handled through an ICOM M424G VHF and Shakespeare Galaxy antenna. The layout is straightforward, uncluttered, and easy to run.
The fishing package reflects a professional approach. A Pro-Fab stainless tower featuring 12 rod holders provides excellent visibility and storage. The system is supported by a Pacific Edge bait tank with integrated LED lighting and viewing window, a Rule 1600 GPH livewell pump, Rule bilge pump, and Jabsco washdown system. Additional functionality includes four Scotty 12v receptacles and five built-in Boat Outfitters tackle/storage hatches, creating a platform equally suited for kelp, island, or offshore use.
Fuel capacity has been significantly increased with a custom 100-gallon stainless fuel tank, giving the boat the range it needs to be used offshore. During installation and subsequent upgrades, the cockpit was repaired and repainted, non-skid and deck finishes were updated, and structural reinforcement was added to the tower, rod holders, and tow-eye locations. The wiring has been re-dressed and organized, resulting in a clean and reliable system throughout.
Deck hardware and onboard systems were selected with durability in mind. The boat is equipped with a Lewmar polished stainless 14 lb anchor and Lewmar Pro-Fish 700 windlass (helm-controlled). Lighting includes Lumitec full-spectrum underwater LEDs, forward and aft LED spreader lights, cockpit LED lighting, and cabin LED lighting. A ACR RCL-95 LED searchlight with joystick control provides additional visibility when needed.
Electrical and onboard systems include a NOCO Genius battery management system with 120V shore power, AFI FullBlast dual trumpet air horn, and a Simrad SonicHub 2 marine audio system with cockpit speakers.
The finish work ties everything together. The boat features custom diamond-stitched upholstery, upgraded helm seating and captain's chairs, and a custom full tower and helm canvas cover valued at approximately $4,000.
The boat is offered with a dual-axle galvanized trailer ($7,000) with new hubs, along with spare windshield panes, original emblems, brochures, and additional accessories including Seasucker cupholders.
"Stinger" is not a project or a lightly updated hull-it is a boat that has been run, improved, and refined over time. It presents as a truly one-of-a-kind, turn-key platform ready for immediate use, whether that means fishing, cruising, or multiple days on the water!
