1979 CHB Double Cabin Trawler Boat in Novato, CA 94949 US
Double Cabin Trawler
1 Engine (Ford Lehman)
34 feet
Diesel
Fiberglass/Reinforced
With a seakindly hull designed by noted marine architect Ed Monk Jr. and built with a rugged solid fiberglass layup, the CHB 34 trawlers were THE long distance cruisers back in the day, and, a Pacific Northwest veteran herself, Delphine is a fine example of the type. She's been well taken care of over the years and shows very nicely today, and she's the upgraded version with deck access from the aft cabin.
Note all the exterior brightwork was wooded and renewed over the summer of 2024 (this was a MAJOR job and it looks fantastic!) with a maintenance coat just done spring 2026, the bridgedeck teak was removed, subdeck renewed then glassed over and repainted, exterior canvas was redone, new batteries late 2025, the single Ford Lehman 120 diesel was recently serviced (late fall 2025) and runs very well with both the upper and lower hydraulic steering pumps replaced in 2024, she's been dived on regularly (most recently in June, 2026) AND is full of fuel (and at almost $10 a gallon that's quite valuable in and of itself!!)
All in all, the boat shows as nice as any CHB we've ever seen; she's lying Bel Marin Keys and shown by appointment, please.
Forward stateroom has V berth with insert, opening hatch above and ensuite head with pull-out sink, then up to salon with lower steering station and galley up opposite dinette/entertainment aft. Aft and down to master stateroom with two berths (double on starboard), full head with shower and private exit to aft deck. Note vessel light and airy, six-foot-plus headroom, interior immaculate with custom leather helm seat, dark blue cushions and white curtains, no signs of water leakage. Also note Espar diesel fired forced air heating system.
Galley up inline port side of salon. Hot/cold pressure water (with 12 gallon hot water heater), deep stainless steel sink, four burner Magic Chef propane stove/oven, dorm size refrigerator. Two manual pump toilets.
Eagle depth sounder/fishfinder and classic Navy style ship's compass below, recently installed compass on bridge.
110v AV / 12v DC. 30 amp AC shorepower, two Group 27 batteries, one 4D battery, parallel switch, Freedom Marine 20 100 amp battery charger.
Hand laid FRP hull with teak over plywood and glass decks, teak seems to be in decent shape and has been completely removed on the bridgedeck.
Danforth anchor on heavy duty roller with stainless steel topped Sampson post, chain and line anchor rode. Bow rail consisting of stainless steel pulpit with teak hand rails side and stern on 1" stainless stanchions.
All exterior wood (hand and toe rails, window trim, doors, steps, etc.) in PERFECT shape and shows beautifully; this is an important consideration on boats of this vintage as there's a LOT of exterior wood and it's become almost prohibitively expensive to have to strip it all down and start over (which you'll have to do if it hasn't been properly maintained).
Fresh water cooled, naturally aspirated Ford Lehman diesel with Racor fuel filter, engine appears to be in nice shape and runs well. Wagner hydraulic steering with both pumps recently replaced (2024), Morse throttle and shift cables. Four bladed bronze prop, full keel with skeg hung rudder. Full engine function gauges at both upper and lower steering stations.
Engine last serviced late fall of 2025.
