Manufacturer Provided Description

The 445's hull form is optimized to provide the gentle, predictable motion underway, which is so appreciated in other Catalina models. The deck is strikingly handsome with a low profile cabin structure, twin helm stations and a roomy cockpit with tall, secure comfortable coamings and a cockpit table that seats 4-6. The deck is finished with a traditional diamond-patterned non-skid. The owner's cabin is forward for privacy and optimum ventilation. Private head access from the forward cabin along with an electric head and separate shower complete the forward cabin arrangement. The guest cabin is aft with a large comfortable double berth, angled for easy access and greater headroom. This design incorporates an innovative cabin on the port side. This cabin is a flexible space that can easily be converted to whatever your cruising style dictates at the time-sleeping quarters, storage, or a work room with a bench. The galley has the storage and features needed for extended cruising.

Engines

Yanmar 54 hp engine has 3888 hours.

Always Well Maintained, performed the 3500 scheduled maintenance at 3400 hours in 2021, replacing injectors, piston rings, gaskets, and heat exchanger.

Upgraded in 2017 to a Northern Lights 6.5 kW diesel generator, installed in the aft section of the third cabin. It has approximately 410 hours

Propeller is a 3 blade flexfold with delot rope cutter.

All batteries were replaced in April 2022.

Bottom was painted January 2023.

A/C units are original, and in good working order.

Storage Space Everywhere!

We have recently emptied out the boat completely into show room condition, and taken photos of all the drawers and cabinets open to show how much storage there is.

You will notice the galley has cabinets above and below that have fixtures to keep pots, pans, cups, and dishes steady underway.

Rigging

Catalina builds their boats with a stronger Standing Rigging than the competition.  Proof of that is the Professional Rigger's Report ordered last January, indicating it is in very good condition, with only minor flaws in the running rigging, which is currently being replaced.  A Rigger's Report can help satisfy an Insurance Company.

Feb. 2025 - Brand new Main Halyard and Jib Furling lines and New Genoa Sun Cover.

Pros

Spacious Interior: The Catalina 445 boasts a roomy interior layout, designed with comfort in mind. This includes ample headroom, a generous salon, and well-designed storage options.

Versatile Design: The boat features a versatile cockpit setup, providing a comfortable space for socializing, as well as an efficient working area for sailing.

Performance: With a solid hull design and a well-balanced sail plan, the Catalina 445 offers strong performance under varying wind conditions, making it suitable for both cruising and some club racing.

Quality Construction: Catalina Yachts is known for its attention to detail and durability. The 445 benefits from high-quality materials and construction practices, ensuring long-lasting performance.

Safety Features: The design incorporates several safety features, such as a deep lead keel and balanced rudder, enhancing stability and handling, especially in rough seas.

Customizable Options: Buyers often have the ability to customize various aspects of the boat, including rigging and finishes, to match their preferences and sailing style.

Cons

Draft Considerations: The Catalina 445 has a significant draft, which may limit access to certain shallow anchorages or marinas, requiring careful planning for cruising destinations.

Weight: While the robust construction offers durability, it can also mean that the boat is heavier than some of its competitors, potentially impacting speed in lighter winds.

Maintenance: As with any sailboat, regular maintenance is required. The complexity of systems onboard may require more frequent attention, depending on how the vessel is used.

Cost: The initial investment can be substantial, and while it’s well-built and reliable, the price point might put it out of reach for some potential buyers looking for budget-friendly options.

Headroom in the Forepeak: While the main living areas are spacious, some sailors may find the headroom in certain areas of the forepeak is less than desirable for taller individuals.

Limited Sailing Speed: Although it performs well, some experienced sailors might feel that its cruising design prioritizes comfort over speed compared to more performance-oriented models.
