One of the most popular boats built, the Catalina 36MkII is a comfortable and great sailing cruiser. It is a super family boat, and can be easily handled by just one or two crew. Stargazer has been lovingly maintained and upgraded. She is in beautiful condition, is an excellent example of all that the 36 MkII has to offer, and is truly turnkey. Highlights include full modular canvas cockpit enclosure, solar panels on the bimini, two year old genoa, new chartplotter and autopilot, all new lifelines, a new refrigeration unit, new throttle and steering cable, recently replaced batteries, and inflatable dinghy on davits.
Stargazer has been lovingly sailed and maintained by her current owners, including being stored under cover in a boat shed during the off season. She has a detailed maintenance log and a successful 2023 survey. Updates this summer include new pss shaft seal and new water pump. She is well equipped and is ready to go sailing!
Stargazer has a large and comfortable cockpit, with all lines led aft for ease of sail handling. The canvas enclosure includes a bimini, dodger, and connector, and well as zipped on sides to customize your cockpit experience. There are three solar panels attached to the top of the bimini. The tender is on davits and there are two different helm seats, one that fits low, and one that rests higher on the stanchions. The cockpit lockers are spacious and well organized. The decks are wide, with ample handholds and there are plenty of hatches for good ventilation down below. The traveler runs in front of the dodger. The lifelines were replaced last year. The rig is masthead sloop with a roller furling jib and a classic main with lazy pack.
In the Forward cabin is a V berth with excellent stowage at the foot of the berth, under the bunk, and on either side. the head is just aft of the forward cabin, to port. It has two doors, providing access from the forward cabin and the main saloon.
In the main saloon, there is a wide u shaped dining settee to port. The starboard settee can be a nice long bench, and has the option of raising another table in the center. There is stowage forward of this settee and a nav station aft of it. There is a stool for the nav station that can swivel under and out of the way. The gally is to port, with gimballed two burner stove and oven, large refrigerator and double sink. Again, there is ample, clever, stowage in the galley.
The aft cabin is large and comfortable with ventilation from two hatches and a hanging locker and drawers.
The engine is a Universal 30 hp diesel with a Maxi 3 blade feathering propeller.
