Designed by the legendary architect Carl Alberg, the 31 design were built from 1983-1985, so Katahdin is one of the latter boats built, which usually transcends into a refined vessel. She is a traditional Alberg design with a full keel and attached rudder. This offers excellent tracking and ballast that is not vulnerable to grounding with a predictable outcome, unlike some fin keel boats. She has graceful overhangs and a low profile with increased beam - hence interior volume than her Cape Dory 30 predecessor. The vessel is highly regarded among coastal cruisers and offshore sailors for its uncompromising build quality and heavy-weather capabilities. She's stiff, stable and sea-kindly. Another outstanding feature over the Cape Dory 30 is the locations of the head. It is larger and completely private with a solid door located port of the companionway stairs across from the U- shaped galley. There are port & starboard settees of which the starboard pulls out to a double. Storage is above and behind the backrests a\& underneath. The forward stateroom has the typical double berth with insert, stand-up area for dressing & lockers with a solid door for privacy. A center-mounted table with drop leafs so access to the forward cabin is easily accessible, yet provides a dinning surface for both sides. The galley has two deep SS sinks, dry storage, top-loading ice box, stove & oven and cupboards. Her keel-stepped mast has a cutter sail plan, which offers the cruising sailor more options. This is a fresh-water only boat. The Owner's are getting out due to age. The interior woodwork is beautiful. Everything has been maintained & in working order.
