Introducing SV See Dream
1990 Bristol Channel Cutter
Bristol Channel Cutter, See Dream, is a wonderful example of the Lyle Hess-designed and Sam Morse-built Bristol Channel Cutter.
1992 Bristol Channel Cutter BCC 28 Hull #71 is a hull and deck version that was purchased by a Franz who took 5 years to finished her off himself to Sam Morse factory levels and was launched in 1992.
See Dream was launched in Bellingham WA in 1992 where she was sailed in the Northwest until she was trucked to the east coast in 1997 for her first of 2 Atlantic Crossings.
For over 25 years See Dream was typically sailed for 2 months each summer in the Mediterranean and then stored on land for the remaining 10 months. When on the hard she was always covered with a full custom cover.
She was sailed back across the Atlantic to the Caribbean in 2023
In 2024 she was sailed from Trinidad to Puerto Rico and in 2025 she was sailed to Florida.
In 2026 she was sailed to Hampton, VA
She is the hull #71 done at the Morse factory in Costa Mesa, CA. Special hardware needed to finish the boat was supplied by Sam Morse company.
Main portholes are unique custom cast oval portholes, with patterns loaned to me by Larry Pardey.
She is presently in the water at Belle Isle Marina, Hampton , VA
New Main and Jib in 2021 still look like new storm sail (never used) A Drifter, and a used spare jib for wing on wing with bolt rope installed
A new Spray Dodger was installed in 2022
The interior upholstery was replaced in 2024
A new 3 Burner Range was installed in 2024.
New Danfoss Refrigerator compressor unit 2026
She is full of spares of almost anything you can imagine.
The bottom is usually repainted about every 3 years. There has never been any signs of fiberglass blisters, before launching 2 coats of epoxy paint were applied.
Zincs have been replaced annually.
All the canvas is in new condition (new custom spray dodger and cockpit cover with side curtains in 2023, the varnish (just the hatches) was just done, engine serviced, just a well-maintained and loved serious blue water cruiser.
She also has the unique Larry Pardey designed self-steering system that works off a trim tab on the rudder.
