Trilogy is a 38 Pilothouse Tug Cruiser designed by Jay Benford and built by Cape-Bay Shipbuilders. The previous owners maintained her meticulously for over 19 years. She boasts a charming design with an interior that is very attractively finished in varnished hardwoods.
Her layout is ideal for a couple to live aboard or a family looking to do an extended cruise. She is a stable, seaworthy, and reliable vessel, with a quiet engine that brings her respectfully into intimate anchorages. The 8kw generator, windlass, heat and AC, large capacity fuel and water tanks, add to overall self-sufficiency.
Her current owner holds a 200 Tons Masters license and is a Certified Diesel Mechanic. He has gone through the entire vessel adding upgrades and modifications. He had the bottom strip, epoxy barrier coated and painted. He added 3 new 100 watt Renogy Solar panels with Controller and new Batteries. He also modified the Main Saloon floor to incorporate an Engine Room Hatch for greater engine access and installed new motor mounts. These modifications and upgrades add to Trilogy's overall self-sufficiency for living or cruising.

Something simple about Tug Trilogy.
She was our summer home and the source of many summer memories. She is our 3rd small tug, hence the name. She is sturdy – well designed – trimmed in teak & fun to operate.
Trilogy is a 38′ Jay Benford designed tugboat built by Cape Bay Shipbuilders of Kingston MA between 1984 and 1986. We are the 3rd owners and have traveled on her since August 2001.
Hull #3 of 4 built — 38′ long, 14′ wide and 4.5′ draft she is documented as 19 net tons & 24 gross tons displacement. Clearance is 21’6″ with the mast and wires up. Minimum clearance that allows us to navigate the Champlain and Erie Canals is 14′ 3″. There is one bolt on the mast to be removed so we have this flexibility. There is a forward cabin with a double bunk, storage and open shelf space. Ahead of the cabin is a rope locker for chain and anchor rode.
The stern master cabin with storage and drawers is the walkway through to the aft deck.
The wheelhouse is the main seating and table area with electronics overhead and at the wheel. Comfortable seating allows guests and crew to travel above deck with a full view of the surroundings.
The galley and head amid ships are down a ladder from the wheelhouse. The galley has a full double sink, 3 burner stove – oven, refrigerator – freezer and microwave. Pressurized hot and cold water full shower and sink in the head make this very comfortable quarters.
Overhead clearance, ventilation and clear views are part of the comforts of cruising on Tug Trilogy.
