This 44' Swift Trawler has been exceptionally well maintained, and it shows! Walking the deck and interior you will find all of the equipment, cabinetry, canvas, and upholstery are in top condition and canvas covers protecting everything. The versatile lightweight tender and motor convey with the sale. The efficient Volvo diesels have only 2,300 hours. The mast is hinged to lower for low air draft bridge clearances. The beautiful flag blue hull makes a classy statement.
Main Salon:
The main salon, galley and interior helm station are in an open social arrangement together on the main deck. All of this common living space enjoys large windows with 360-degree views and direct access to a spacious aft deck. There is a comfortable sized sleeper sofa in the main salon and large flat screen TV. The Main salon doubles as a third cabin with a privacy curtain to separate this space for additional guests. The beautiful cherry paneling and cabinetry throughout this space has been well cared for. There is a surround sound Bose speaker system as well.
Galley:
The U-Shaped galley is situated forward on the main deck with loads of counter space. There is a gas stove, microwave, large double sink, and ice maker. Everyone enjoys the natural light and large windows in this space.
Master Stateroom:
The spacious forward master stateroom enjoys both port and starboard windows plus the overhead hatch/skylight. A large en-suite bath includes a separate shower area with shower bench seat.
Guest Stateroom:
There is a large double bed in the guest room. Here you will find a lot more storage space and the full-size washer/dryer machine. The guest bath/day head also has a shower.
Deck:
The flybridge boasts a large electric grill, with refrigerator and sink. There is seating for 8+ on the flybridge including the large settee, starboard side lounge bench and two helm seats all under a large fold-down bimini top. The teak decking is a nice touch in the forward cockpit and smartly there is no teak decking on the exposed aft tender deck. All of the canvas and upholstery is in great condition. On main deck you will find a covered and enclosed aft deck with natural teak and built-in seating. The transom door leads to a large swim platform. The 44’ Swift is well thought-out and designed with tons of storage everywhere you look.
Note: The tender can also be stored on the swim platform on shorter voyages!
Electronics and Helm:
Both the upper deck and main deck helms are all well-appointed including Raymarine chart-plotter, radar, and autopilot. The vessel is equipped with both bow and stern thrusters for easy maneuvering.
Engine Details and Mechanical Equipment:
The engine room and mechanical space are not cluttered and easy to access. Aboard Wanderer you will find exceptionally clean and well-maintained mechanical compartments. The twin Volvo diesels and single Cummins Onan generator service is up to date.

Overview
The Swift 44 is regarded by many as an ideal cruising boat for couples, designed to succeed the popular Swift 42 while maintaining the brand's commitment to comfort and escapism. Measuring 45 feet 6 inches in length overall with a beam of 13 feet 11 inches and a shallow draft of 3 feet 5 inches, the Swift 44 offers a manageable size for cruising. The vessel's empty weight is just over 24,000 pounds, and with full fuel and three persons aboard, the test weight reached 26,752 pounds.
Exterior Design and Operational Layout
Boarding the Swift 44 is facilitated either via a walkthrough from the swim platform or through a door located on the starboard bulwarks. The boat features an asymmetrical deck layout, with the starboard side deck being wider than the port side. Optional teak decking enhances the exterior, while the teak cap rail and pulpit provide low-maintenance wooden accents. Safety is ensured by bow rails measuring 29.5 inches high and 1.5 inches thick. The windlass system is standard equipment but is only operable from the helm stations; the reviewer noted the absence of foot controls or a handheld remote at the bow as a potential drawback. The 16-inch cleats and chafing strips are well positioned for mooring. Access to the engine compartment is gained by removing the salon table and carpet, revealing a spacious area suitable for routine checks and light maintenance, though additional lighting would be beneficial. The compartment is well organized with clean wiring and double-clamped hoses, and sound insulation keeps noise levels to a modest 79 decibels in the salon at full speed.
Helm Stations and Bridge

Standard controls include the bow thruster, digital engine controls, twin analog gauges flanking the Volvo Penta EVC display, and a rudder angle indicator. The helm seat is a double white unit with a full-length flip-up bolster and footrest, complemented by an overhead grab handle and a side door that offers excellent visibility and ventilation. Visibility from this station is nearly 360 degrees. Access to the flybridge is via a cockpit stairway; the flybridge helm is forward and center-mounted, equipped similarly to the lower helm but with a 9-inch display instead of 12 inches. The bimini top extends over the flybridge helm, providing sun protection. While visibility from the flybridge is good, the reviewer preferred docking from the lower helm due to ease of operation.
Performance and Handling
Powered by twin 300 horsepower Volvo Penta D4 diesel engines, the Swift 44 demonstrated impressive responsiveness at low speeds, maintaining excellent helm control even without engine power. The boat handled turns smoothly with a gentle 5-degree heel, ensuring passenger comfort. Visibility from the helm was outstanding, aided by narrow window mullions and wraparound glass. In light chop and wakes, the hull sliced through water cleanly with minimal pounding. Performance testing revealed a top speed of 25.6 knots at 2600 rpm, consuming 28 gallons per hour and yielding a range of approximately 303 nautical miles. The most efficient cruising speed was estimated at 22.6 knots at 3250 rpm, burning 22.5 gallons per hour, equating to one nautical mile per gallon. The Swift 44 accelerated to plane in 6.3 seconds and reached 20 miles per hour in 8.5 seconds, with a modest bow rise of 10 degrees. A drop-down step at the helm improved sight lines during acceleration. Once on plane, the boat settled into a 5-degree bow-high attitude. Docking was facilitated by excellent side visibility through the helm door and precise control using differential engine thrust, often eliminating the need for the bow thruster until final mooring. The design enables single-handed operation, a key feature for cruising couples.
Conclusion
The Swift 44 is a thoughtfully designed cruiser that balances efficient planning speed with comfortable loitering capabilities, all within a package that is manageable for single operators or couples. Its shallow draft, responsive handling, and well-considered operational layout make it suitable for extended cruising without frequent refueling.
