Leather seats, carbon dash, tempered steering wheel and chrome air vents youd think you were at the wheel of a Maserati but youre at the helm of the Italian Absolute Navetta 58. Absolute Yachts Navetta 58 looks proud by a strong constitution appearance and she will immediately embrace you with a feeling of great safety.

Itâs a new look, European yards are doing it and people canât believe how much volume it contains. The interior layout is quite appealing with deep-buttoned leather upholstery, an onyx-topped coffee table, mocha-toned timber veneers on walls and floor and inset downlighting.  The boatâs near plumb bow, high topsides, stepped-down sheer-line, and prominent windows in the bow and topsides give it that undeniably distinct European look. The first impression of the Navetta 58 is one of considerable volume, especially below deck and in that spacious bow.

The entire cockpit is roofed and has a blind at the rear for privacy and sun protection. A staircase to port runs to the upper deck onto another large entertaining and relaxing area. There is plenty of space aft for sun loungers and deck chairs and farther forward theres an upholstered seating area with a table and built-in barbecue. A large electrically-operated awning extends from the radar arch to keep everyone cool in the shade.

A couple of steps up and youre on the galley and dining level, again surrounded by huge windows with almost unrestricted visibility. Theres a U-shaped dining area to port with the galley to starboard. When you get sick of looking at the beautiful views from the salon seating the TV pops up with the press of a button.

The Navetta 58 has covered side decks  and protection gunwales along the entire side of the main deck and the flybridge including solid handrails available along all passages to help with walking around the boat during rougher seas. Even the teak deck and steps have non-slip surfaces to ensure safety when moving around.

The strength of the hull and deckhouse on the Navetta 58 is apparent by the oversized windows which reveal a beautiful oceanic landscape when underway. With high-quality materials and advanced construction techniques, Absolute is able to use larger panes of glass for windows without compromising the structural integrity of the boat.

Absolute NAVETTA 58: BoatTEST Review

Reviewed by Jeff Hammond

Boat Test Review on BoatTest.com

Overview

The Absolute Navetta 58 is a thoughtfully designed yacht that combines operational functionality with modern technology. Although adverse weather conditions prevented an independent performance test, manufacturer data and a detailed inspection provide a comprehensive understanding of the vessel's features and capabilities.

Lower Helm and Operational Features

The lower helm station is starboard-mounted and features a soft-touch, carbon fiber dashboard with a compass prominently positioned atop the panel. It includes two 12-inch multifunction displays, with an option to upgrade to 17-inch screens. Integrated controls such as the Seakeeper gyro system, Volvo Penta EVC display, and an alarm page enhance situational awareness by monitoring sea readiness, air conditioning, and other critical systems. The helm is equipped with rocker switches beneath the panel, digital engine throttle controls, joystick controls for the IPS pod drive system, and a bow thruster. The steering wheel is mounted on a fixed base, complemented by a single leather bucket seat with a flip-up bolster that slides fore and aft. Notably, the helm offers an electrically actuated opening side window on the port side and a watertight door with an opening window on the starboard side, facilitating excellent visibility and access to the boat’s side while maintaining control of the IPS and bow thruster joysticks. The electrical panel is conveniently located in clear view of the helm, divided into DC and AC systems with secure glass panels.

Crew Cabin and Engine Room

Accessed via a door centered in the transom, the crew cabin accommodates two with separate berths to port and starboard. The space includes storage, windows looking out through the transom, and opening portlights on both sides. Forward of the cabin is a head, followed by the engine room entrance. The engine room itself offers standing headroom of approximately five feet, eight inches and houses twin Volvo Penta D8 IPS 800 diesel engines with pod drives, eliminating the need for jackshafts. The swim platform hydraulics are located on the starboard aft side, with additional access from the cockpit. Fuel tanks are positioned on either side with a sight tube for monitoring levels, supported by crossovers to balance fuel. A 21.5 kW generator is centrally mounted, and the SeaKeeper 9 gyro stabilizer is installed, though offered as an optional feature.

Exterior Layout and Deck Features

The Navetta 58 features a symmetrical deck layout with 16-inch-wide side decks protected by overhead structures. Boat works rise 30 inches with rails topping out at 36 inches, and boarding gates open outward on both sides. Forward, two seven-inch steps ascend to the foredeck where boat works increase to 22 inches and rails to 32 inches. The ground tackle is positioned on an elevated platform 12 inches above deck level, flanked by courtesy lights and 12-inch cleats. The windlass is a quick model with a roller integrated into the tow rail atop the cap rails, accompanied by chocks and a road locker housing an all-chain rode with remote control. A fresh water washdown quick connect is conveniently located beside the anchor platform.

Flybridge Helm and Controls

The flybridge helm is center-mounted with a compass situated between two panels capable of housing 12-inch displays; currently, only the port panel is equipped with a single 12-inch display. Controls include the quick windlass, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, Volvo Penta engine display, digital throttle and shift controls, and an IPS joystick. A Fusion stereo system and beverage holders are positioned within easy reach. The flybridge features a manually adjustable windscreen that can be raised or lowered by loosening thumb screws, providing flexibility against wind and spray.

Performance Evaluation

Due to an approaching tropical storm, independent performance testing was limited. Attempts to operate in the inlet were curtailed by green water over the bow, preventing meaningful speed trials. However, Absolute’s own extensive testing reports a top speed of 27.7 knots at 3071 RPM with the IPS pod drives. At this speed, fuel consumption is approximately 65.3 gallons per hour, yielding a fuel efficiency of 0.4 nautical miles per gallon and a range exceeding 242 nautical miles. The most efficient cruise setting coincides with this top speed. Reducing throttle to 2100 RPM lowers speed to 12.7 knots but only marginally increases range by 3.5 nautical miles. At trawler speeds near 6 knots and 1000 RPM, the range extends significantly to over 886 nautical miles, maintaining a 10% fuel reserve within the 634-gallon capacity. Handling characteristics were favorable even in 25-35 knot crosswinds, demonstrating good control during docking maneuvers.

Conclusion

The Absolute Navetta 58 presents a well-engineered yacht with a focus on operational ease, comfort, and efficient performance. Despite weather limitations preventing full independent testing, manufacturer data and onboard inspection reveal a vessel capable of comfortable cruising with advanced helm ergonomics, practical crew accommodations, and a thoughtfully designed exterior layout. Its IPS pod drives and optional gyro stabilization contribute to smooth handling and stability, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a versatile and capable motor yacht.
