Boat Features

The Sea-Doo Fish Pro is the personal watercraft line built specifically for anglers, introduced in 2019 as the first PWC designed around fishing. It now spans three tiers: the entry-level Fish Pro Scout, the mid-range Fish Pro Sport, and the flagship Fish Pro Trophy, with the Fish Pro Apex 300 sitting at the top for power. The platform suits a solo fisher who wants to reach shallow flats, tight backwater spots and offshore rigs that a larger boat can't easily access, and it does so for a fraction of a fishing boat's running cost. A full tank of 87 octane, rods and bait can run a day on the water for roughly $100. Two adults can ride, but rigging and weight make it best as a single-angler machine.

Engine and specs vary by model. The original 2019 Fish Pro used a 1494cc naturally aspirated engine and ran 50 mph all day; 2020 and later units stepped up to 170 horsepower. The Fish Pro Scout is built on the smaller GTI platform with a 130-horsepower naturally aspirated engine, while the Sport and Trophy ride the full-length ST3 platform with the 1630 ACE producing 170 horsepower. The Fish Pro Apex 300 runs a supercharged 1630cc engine making 300 horsepower, with a dry weight of 978 pounds and a length listed near 146.8 inches. The 2019 model measures 147 inches long, 49.4 inches wide and 44.9 inches tall, with an 856-pound dry weight and a 600-pound passenger capacity. Fuel capacity is 18.5 gallons across the ST3 models, giving roughly 80 to 100 miles of range.

Every Fish Pro comes with a Garmin fish finder and a through-hull transducer, which avoids any external puck that could be torn off. The Scout uses a 6-inch non-touch Garmin; the Trophy upgrades to a brighter 7-inch touchscreen that adjusts and swivels for reading while seated or standing. Each unit includes one free Garmin token for a high-resolution local map, with additional charts available through Garmin. A slow-speed mode with nine settings tops out around 5 to 6 mph for no-wake zones and hands-free trolling, while cruise control holds a set speed such as 35 mph at higher speeds. The Apex 300 adds a steering damper, an adjustable handlebar riser, a windshield and a front bumper bar. The intelligent debris-free (IDF) system, introduced in 2021, reverses impeller rotation to purge weeds from the intake without getting in the water. The Trophy also carries the BRP tech package with premium sound, dual batteries and a larger generator.

The deck is where the Fish Pro earns its name. The cooler is a 13.5-gallon unit with a soft cutting top and a built-in fish ruler, and on the Trophy it doubles as a livewell run through a three-position toggle for off, continuous or timed flow. One drawback noted in real use: the livewell has no in-water drain plug, so it must be unhooked and dumped after the day, and a full tank rides the stern low. Rod holders mount around the tank and shift to an outboard trolling position. The ST3 models offer 27 gallons of center storage that opens from a seated position, plus a waterproof phone spot in the glove box and a one-foot deck extension with LinQ attachment points for an extra cooler, gas can or dry bag. The Trophy's exclusive swivel fishing seat installs on a pedestal and electronically limits speed to 18 mph so you can relocate without removing it; the same 18-mph limit applies to the Apex 300 pedestal seat.

Stability is the defining trait. The wide ST3 hull and deep foot wells let a rider stand on one side or move around without feeling tippy, even for a rider over 300 pounds. It runs in as little as half a foot of water in spots like the Laguna Madre, and at roughly 900 pounds it can be pushed free if it grounds. It will run out to offshore rigs and handled 5- to 8-foot swells, though water came over the bow in those conditions. The integrated anchor deploys one-handed with a mesh lead bag and a dedicated cleat in the foot well, though the supplied weight holds best wedged into rocks or shore.

A new 2024 Fish Pro Trophy with trailer ran about $27,000. Used Fish Pro and Scout units have been found for $14,000 to $17,000, a meaningful saving for buyers shopping used. The included single trailer is serviceable, and tie-downs plus dual transom drains let you rinse and clear salt water at home. Worth weighing before buying: the livewell drain limitation, the reach back to bait from the helm, and that the swivel seat earns its cost mainly on calm freshwater lakes rather than rough coastal water. For anglers who fish alone and value shallow-water access, the Fish Pro delivers a capable, low-cost fishing platform.
