Boat Features

Scout Boats builds its center console fishing boats in Somerville, South Carolina, and the range runs from the sub-20-foot 188 Sportfish up to the 670 LXS, currently the longest outboard-powered yacht the company has produced. That span lets a buyer step in at an affordable entry point or move into a fishing yacht with three staterooms, and every model carries through-hull fittings finished in bronze, unsinkable upright level flotation on the smaller hulls, and the yacht-grade polished stainless steel hardware the brand is known for. Across the lineup the boats pair hardcore fishing equipment with cruising comfort rather than choosing between them.

The smaller Sportfish models are built for value and trailering. The 188 Sportfish uses an air-assist hull that aids stability, fuel economy and speed, touching about 40 mph with a 90-horsepower outboard and reaching the low 40s with the 115-horsepower option; it carries a five-position pilot seat, a bait well to port, twin swim platforms and a recessed port-side ladder. The 19.5-foot 195 Sportfish rigs commonly with a 150-horsepower Yamaha on a dual-axle trailer, with an oval clear-top live well under the helm seat and V-berth storage in the bow. Stepping up, the 260 LXF runs twin 200-horsepower Mercury V6 outboards, outriggers, an anchor windlass, two roughly four-foot fish boxes that drain aft, under-gunnel rod storage, a side dive door and a tackle station with a faux-marble top, sink and cutting board.

The 400 LXF rigs with 600-horsepower Mercury Verados and a center console fishing layout that is built for serious offshore work. Six rod holders run along each gunnel, five rocket launchers sit on the transom, and five more electrically tiltable rocket launchers above the cockpit drop to extend a shore shade across the deck. Two 33-gallon acrylic live wells let you watch your bait, fed by a Scout-exclusive sea chest molded into the hull. The helm carries three Garmin displays plus a Simrad SmartCraft gauge, all four redundant for navigation and engine data, with digital switching, a geographic vessel display, joystick control, bow thruster, Zipwake automatic trim tabs and a camera system that shows the anchor deploying.

The flagship 530 lists at around $3 million and runs twin 600-horsepower V12 outboards to a 40 mph cruise and a 70 mph top speed. It is unusual for a center console in carrying a flybridge with joystick control, and below deck it holds a generator and a Seakeeper gyro stabilizer for stationary fishing. The fully enclosed helm seats twin navigators alongside the driver, all with view of multiple screens, while drop-down side balconies, a wet bar with grill, fridge and sink, and a patented tilting rocket launcher system serve both fishing and leisure.

The 670 LXS, Scout's project to build the largest outboard center console yacht, carries five 600-horsepower Mercury Verados and reached 60 mph on the water. Its fold-down swim platforms use roughly 30 layers of carbon fiber, the air-conditioning vents are sourced directly from Mercedes, and it comes with a Seakeeper and generator. Inside, three staterooms, a galley with twin-burner cooktop, convection microwave, refrigerator and ice maker, drop-down windows and a full sky sunroof let the boat sleep eight.
