Boat Features

The Scout 175 Sportfish is the entry-level center console in the Scout Boats lineup, a 17-foot fishing boat built with the same hand-laid fiberglass and hardware the company uses on its flagship 530. The all-fiberglass liner keeps cleanup simple, and the deck layout suits skinny-water fishing in rivers, creeks, flats and lakes, with enough draft control to chase reds up on the shallows. It works as a single-engine bay-style boat for anglers who want quality construction in a small, trailerable package.

Power comes from outboards in the 90-to-115 horsepower range. Many boats carry a 90-horsepower four-stroke from Mercury or Yamaha, while the 115-horsepower Yamaha gives the hull noticeably more punch. Optional hydraulic steering eases operation on the larger-powered boats, and tilt steering is fitted at the helm. A trim tab system lets you level the boat for load or chop, and the hull is described as smooth and agile in rough water. Single-lever engine control sits at the console alongside digital Yamaha gauges.

The helm centers on a console with an accessible battery switch on the bulkhead, waterproof rocker switches, and a Fusion audio system with a 12-volt power port and USB connection for charging a phone. Brokerage and new boats have been fitted with large multifunction displays including a Garmin with a three-in-one transducer and built-in charts and tides, plus a VHF radio. Rocket-launcher rod holders mount on the starboard side of the helm, and there is a phone holder that charges the device. Upgraded JL Audio speakers are among the available options. A grab handle wraps the windshield and doubles as protection for the plexiglas.

The deck carries flip-up pull-up cleats throughout, typically two midship, two at the transom and one at the bow. A dedicated anchor locker in the bow keeps the anchor rode and chain out of the cockpit and leaves room for dock lines. The bow features a forward-facing seat built on a 100-quart Igloo Marine Ultra cooler that doubles as a seat and fish box, with storage under the full-size bow cushion sized to stand five-gallon buckets and cast nets. At the transom there is a built-in live well, four rod holders split two per side, an optional color-matched swim platform, and a drop-down boarding ladder.

The helm seat is a flip-flop bench with an adjustable backrest for sitting or standing, and an Igloo cooler underneath serves as dry storage or a fish box. A removable seat reveals additional rod holders. Storage is found under both stern jump seats, inside the console, and in a fish box that is plumbed and drainable, with a watertight cover giving access to the bilge.

Common options to weigh when shopping the 175 Sportfish for sale include the sports package with the Bimini top and cushion set, jump-seat backrests, the bow trolling motor plug-in for easy troller installation, and a boat cover. Boats ship on a Phoenix or aluminum trailer depending on the dealer setup. Model years from 2022 through 2025 turn up on the market, both new and as brokerage listings.
