Boat Features

The 2025 MasterCraft XStar is the sixth generation of one of the most recognized names in towed water sports, a flagship that has been redesigned from the bottom up. It comes in two lengths: a 23-foot model (23T) and a 25-foot model (25T) that measures 25 feet 7 inches. The 25-footer weighs around 8,400 pounds and seats up to 18 people, with a tall hull and generous freeboard. The signature pickle fork bow and wider rear hips identify it as a MasterCraft from a distance, while the hull sides and shear line are cleaner and more sculpted than the rest of the line. Anyone shopping the MasterCraft XStar wakeboard boat is looking at a craft built to handle beginners and advanced riders behind the same hull.

Power comes from a single Ilmore 6.2L supercharged engine producing 630 horsepower and 665 foot-pounds of torque, described as the most powerful plant in the tow boat market. Top speed reaches 41 mph, and the boat gets to 30 mph quickly with noticeable bow control. Auto Launch offers single, triple, or off settings to manage bow rise on takeoff, with the triple mode holding the bow down hardest using all three tabs. With no ballast or passengers aboard, the hull tracks flat through rollers and stays light on the wheel, banking cleanly through button-hook turns used at lower wakeboarding speeds. A stern thruster, controlled by twisting a collar at the top of the throttle, lets you hold position against wind, current, or tide without taking a hand off the throttle.

The helm uses a dual-screen layout with a 12-inch touchscreen on the right that accesses all boat functions, plus MyDrive, which lets you reach those functions without touching the screen. Cameras cover the bow, the tower, and the transom for trailering and watching the rider. The audio system, called Max (the MasterCraft Adaptive audio eXperience), runs 26 speakers including 10 in the cockpit and six subwoofers, four of them in the back, plus tower speakers; in wake surf mode the system automatically focuses output to the tower and transom. The helm also includes standard wireless charging, a battery switch within reach, and a small drawer for keys or a wallet.

Wake setup is preset-driven. Wakeboard modes run from beginner through intermediate (which fills ballast and sets 21 mph) to advanced; the surf system uses a 1-to-7 scale, where 1 is a mellow, clean foiling wave and 7 is a steep, aggressive barrel, with left or right selection and dedicated foiling profiles. With over 4,000 pounds of ballast and Quick Fill tanks that fill in under two minutes, the surf wave carries push well behind the boat, holding tension out past 24 to 25 feet at a setting of 5 around 11 mph.

The deck is laid out so you can walk bow to transom without stepping on any upholstery. The all-new windshield uses a friction hinge so it sets without slamming, and a transom walkthrough leads to rear-facing bucket seats. A Murphy seat pulls up from the floor in about four seconds to add backward-facing seating over the standard in-floor storage. There are eight phone holders, four of which charge the phone, plus a removable insulated cooler, a hidden cooler, and a side-access trash can. The 25 offers an optional refrigerator/cooler door. The powered Z100 tower (also referred to as the C100) raises and lowers from the helm or the aft seats, with swiveling clamping board racks and locking side toe hooks for teaching kids to surf.

Buyers comparing the MasterCraft XStar across listings should weigh the two hull sizes, since both the 23 and 25 deliver the same engine and wave technology, and check how each boat is optioned for board storage, since the base setup holds limited boards without the bimini, while the bimini adds racks above and below it. The interior is finished in SeaDeck throughout with signature stitching and is available in multiple color combinations.
