Boat Features

The Malibu Corvette is a limited-edition direct-drive boat born from a collaboration between Malibu and General Motors to celebrate the Chevrolet Corvette. The first generation ran from 1997 through 2000, with roughly 168 built across those four model years, and a later second generation arrived in 2008. Styling cues carry over directly from the car, including Corvette-shaped tail lights at the transom that function as bilge air intake and exhaust vents, Corvette badging across the hull and dash, and a hood-style bow panel. A Malibu Corvette boat for sale today is a rare find, since few of either generation see regular water use.

The 1997 Malibu Corvette boat used a Callaway-modified, marinized LT1 V8, an engine known for reliability problems that led to popped motors. By 2000, the boat ran an all-aluminum LS1 rated around 375 to 378 horsepower, a strong and quick combination that pushes the boat past 50 mph depending on prop setup. These early hulls came with PerfectPass speed control, a depth finder, air and water temperature gauges, a heater, a tunable trim plate operated from the helm, and a shifter-style throttle handle. Stainless steel appears throughout the running gear, including the rudder, prop, drive shaft, strut, tracking fins, exhaust tips and water intake.

The 2008 Malibu Corvette Z06 boat is based on the Corvette C6 Z06 and powered by the same LS7 7-liter V8 producing 505 horsepower with a dry-sump oiling system and its own oil reservoir. Malibu built 50 of the second-generation boats, 25 of which were the Z06 specification, making a 2008 Malibu Corvette Z06 boat for sale one of the scarcer ski boats on the market. Quoted top speed reaches about 70 mph with sharp acceleration and tight, on-a-dime handling. A retractable ski pylon serves water skiers, and the engine sits behind the seats under hatches that lift to reveal a clean daybed area.

Equipment on the 2008 boats includes a button-operated Power Wedge wake shaper, underwater lights, reverse spotlights, Borla stainless steel exhaust, a collapsible bimini top and a collapsible radar arch for garage storage. Each rides on a custom color-matched trailer fitted with Corvette Z06 wheels and a matching spare. The interior is finished in Corvette red leather with carbon fiber trim on the door handles and dash, the same seats, steering wheel and gauges as the Z06 car, heated seats, keyless start, power sliding side windows, a custom rearview mirror, and a Rockford Fosgate sound system with eight speakers, two tweeters and two visible subwoofers. The engine compartment is accented with red LED lighting.

Buyers should weigh how these boats were built for show as much as for use. New examples cost roughly $125,000; one 2008 Z06 boat changed hands for about $35,000, while a Scotland listing carried a price near £69,995. The Z06 boats have limited storage with the big engine packed behind the seats, leather upholstery and carpet that hold heat and moisture, and Corvette wheels on the trailer that demand low-profile passenger tires not suited to trailering loads. Both generations reward inspection of seat seams and stitching in high-traffic areas, which tend to wear first.
