Boat Features

The Key West 239 DFS is a dual console "dual family sportsman" and the largest dual console bow rider in the Key West lineup. It splits its purpose between family cruising and serious fishing, carrying numerous rod holders, molded-in rod storage and a recirculating livewell while still offering wraparound forward-facing bow bolsters, a convertible bow filler that elevates into a table or drops to a sun pad, and an L-shaped cockpit seating area. The hull is built with pronounced Carolina flare and a slightly cupped chine with four deflection points to knock spray down, which keeps the ride dry in chop. Key West construction provides level and upright flotation, so the hull stays upright and will not sink below its rub rail if it takes on water.

Power comes from a single Yamaha outboard, with rigs running a Yamaha 250 or the Yamaha 300-horsepower V8. The engine mounts on a pod that keeps the powerhead out of the interior cockpit space. Controls are digital fly-by-wire with a side-mount throttle that includes a lock, neutral hold for warming up at the dock, trim assist, and an electronic speed control that adjusts in 50-rpm increments or can hold a set speed over ground for trolling. Lenco trim tabs with an LED indicator and SeaStar hydraulic power-assist steering round out the handling package. Fuel capacity is about 100 gallons, with roughly 10 gallons unusable due to the venting system.

The helm carries a Garmin multifunction display, offered up to the 1042 xsv with a preloaded worldwide base map, sonar and chart plotting, alongside a Yamaha CL5 digital display showing speed, rpm, fuel economy and engine vitals. Audio runs through a Fusion or JBL Bluetooth system with two speakers forward and two in the hardtop. The captain's chair flips up to a bolster, rotates, and slides 4.5 inches fore and aft; the switch panel sits beneath the wheel out of the weather, with a 12-volt outlet and USB on the console.

In the port console is an adult-sized head compartment with about five feet of headroom, a freshwater sink, a pump-out porta-potti and lockable rod storage. The cockpit includes a passenger seat that folds into a back-to-back or reclining lounger, a freshwater sink under a Corian countertop that doubles as a snack prep station, and a slide-out insulated cooler beneath. A wraparound stern bench seats a crowd, a stern walkthrough door in the port rear corner reaches the molded swim platform and boarding ladder, and a freshwater fill and shower serve swimmers.

Storage runs throughout: an under-floor ski locker mated for use as a fish box, gel-coated drained boxes under the bow seating, dual batteries with a switch under the starboard cockpit, and the livewell under the center stern cushion. A multi-fit door slots below the windshield to close off the bow from the cockpit on cool days. Shade is by Bimini top or the optional powder-coated hardtop, which adds two overhead storage boxes, courtesy lights, rocket launchers and a ski tow pole. Boats are often paired with a Sport Trail all-aluminum welded trailer with torsion axles, stainless steel brakes, aluminum mag wheels and LED lights. When shopping a 239 DFS for sale, confirm the engine choice, electronics package and whether the hardtop, windlass and insulated ice chest seat base were optioned.
