Boat Features

The G3 Bay 20 is an aluminum bay boat built for inshore and river fishing, measuring 20 feet 3 inches long with a 97-inch beam and a maximum carrying capacity of eight people. It comes in GX and Deluxe trims, and the layout suits anglers who want room for two or three people to fish at once across an open front deck and rear casting area. Buyers can finish the boat with SeaDeck flooring in a choice of colors, a textured non-slip surface that stays cooler underfoot on hot days. The ice blue paint is one of the recurring color options.

The Bay 20 carries a maximum horsepower rating of 150 and is commonly rigged with a Yamaha VMAX SHO 150. A Yamaha VMAX SHO 115 is also fitted to some boats, and on the water the 115 gives comparable performance with only a minor drop in top-end speed. The hull runs shallow rivers well, and a hydraulic jack plate is available to fine-tune motor height. Flotation pods, sometimes called float boxes, mount at the transom to keep the stern floated up for shallower running and a smoother ride.

The console was redesigned for 2022 with an in-dash display, gauges within reach, and a stainless steering wheel fitted with a stainless steering knob for one-handed maneuvering. Electronics packages seen on these boats include a Garmin 12-inch unit with down-scan, side-scan and mapping, as well as Lowrance HDS Live displays. Trolling-motor setups range from a Lowrance Ghost to a Minn Kota Riptide with 80 pounds of thrust, Spot-Lock and i-Pilot. Power-Pole Pro Series II shallow-water anchors, with blades from 8 to 10 feet, are a common rigging choice.

The front deck has bow storage plus port and starboard compartments, with rod storage on the left side and open storage on the right, along with a dedicated day box for terminal tackle. The boat carries two live wells, one off the console and one in the rear, and the console well includes a three-tray bait compartment with a pull-down quick release. Rod holders sit on either side of the console, and the storage area underneath holds batteries and flotation devices. The bilge bottom is finished in spray liner for easy cleaning.

Seating is built around a lean post with a removable backrest, lift-up passenger seats with storage beneath, and fold-down jump seats on either side at the stern. The grab rail can be lowered with a couple of knobs to reduce trailer height for garage storage. Optional equipment includes a matte black T-top with integrated rod storage and a dual-axle trailer with upgraded wheels.

When shopping for a G3 Bay 20 for sale, check which engine is fitted, since the 115 and 150 Yamaha SHO models perform similarly with the main difference being top speed. The boat is built by G3, a Yamaha boat company, and dealers typically offer financing with approved credit and accept trades. Confirm whether the listing includes the float pods, Power-Pole anchors, jack plate and electronics, as these options vary significantly from boat to boat and affect price.
