Boat Features

The Azimut Verve 48 is the range-topping model in Azimut's outboard-powered Verve series, a fast day boat with weekend cruising ability that replaced the Verve 47. The original sold 78 units in three years after its February 2020 debut, and the Azimut 48 Verve carries over the successful Michael Peters double-step hull while reworking the transom, hardtop and cockpit circulation. It was conceived for the American market style of boating, blending center-console outboard power with Italian lounging and entertaining. Carbon fiber is used throughout the deck, superstructure and T-top, keeping weight down on a boat that runs at roughly 18 tons fully loaded.

Power comes from triple Mercury 600 horsepower V12 outboards, the only engine option, totaling 1,800 horsepower split across three units rather than the four 450 horsepower Mercury Racing engines used on the 47. Top speed runs 50 to 52 knots, with one figure recorded at 53 mph. The V12s use a two-speed transmission that shifts into the upper gear past around 3,500 RPM, jumping the boat from 15 to 30 knots quickly. A comfortable cruise sits at 35 knots, with each engine drinking roughly 100 to 120 liters per hour, about 300 liters per hour combined. At 30 knots fuel consumption is about 9 liters per nautical mile, rising to around 11 liters per nautical mile near 47 knots. The 2,200-liter fuel tank leaves roughly 1,800 liters usable for a range of about 200 nautical miles. Azimut reports the triple rig is around 15% more efficient and 10 dB quieter than the previous quad setup.

A distinctive feature of these engines is that the powerheads stay fixed while only the underwater pods steer, which let Azimut build a much wider, fully walkable transom and swim platform, 35 to 38% larger than the 47. The hull holds grip through hard turns thanks to the ventilated tunnel that keeps the stern from sliding out. Handling at the dock is managed with a joystick, Skyhook and bow thruster. The helm seats three on electrically adjustable seats, faces three 16-inch plotters, and has single-lever throttle control, four air conditioning vents, a Webasto sliding sunroof and a small forward hatch that scoops cool air directly onto the skipper.

The cockpit is arranged asymmetrically with L-shaped seating and a pop-up table that sits flush with the deck, rises to coffee or dining height, or drops to extend the sunpad, with a custom vinyl cover for dining. The wet bar was shrunk from the 47 to open walkways on both sides while keeping twin Kenyon grills, a sink, two refrigerators or a fridge plus ice maker, and a pop-up TV. A folding port-side bulwark now extends all the way to the swim platform, and insulated drained ice boxes are built into the seating. The extendable hardtop awning shades almost the entire seating area. The bow holds a sun lounge with articulating headrests, optional carbon-fiber sunshade poles, and a sunken forward lounge seating seven or eight with a refrigerator nearby.

Below deck the layout is unchanged from the 47, with two cabins sleeping up to six when the dinette converts. The owner's cabin sits forward and a midships twin guest cabin tucks under the cockpit with nearly 8 feet of headroom at its entry and raised deckhead at the bed for sitting up. A lower galley offers a sink, two-ring electric hob, oven, wine cooler and two drawer fridges, while the shared head is sized like a 60-footer's with a separate glass shower cubicle, bench and rain shower, and over 6 feet of headroom through the central area. Brokerage examples of the Azimut Verve 48 for sale include 2024 boats, and buyers weighing the Azimut 48 should note the galley is built for snacks and drinks rather than serious cooking, the bow seating lacks a fridge, and bow walkways are serviceable rather than wide.
