M/V Petress is a 52'7" (LOA including bow pulpit & swim platform) Custom Flybridge Cruiser powered by 2 Cummins diesel engines coupled to Hamilton water Jet drives. Built by York's Marine and designed by Mark Fitzgerald, this custom flybridge cruiser is a one-owner boat and has been meticulously maintained since she was completed in 2013. Her interior is immaculate and her mechanical systems and spaces are in superyacht condition. Her interior design is open, bright and perfect for a cruising couple or for entertaining guests, day trips or evening cruises. While she spent 3 years in the Bahamas/Florida area, most of her time has been in Maine waters. She has been stored inside a heated building during winter months. Her Cummins diesel engines have less than 1,400 hours and have been meticulously maintained and serviced at all required intervals. Her engine room is well thought out with excellent access to equipment and machinery. Petress is an outstanding collaboration between an experienced yachtsman, reputable navel architect and well respected Maine boatbuilder. New to the market and offered at $975,000.
Aft Cockpit: Petress has the unmistakable lines of a true Down east cruiser. Her aft cockpit is spacious and offers great flexibility in how it is used. With space for several folding deck chairs and tables, her cockpit can be set up for entertaining or completely cleared for storage of her large hard-bottom inflatable that can easily be pulled from the water and into the cockpit via clever rollers on her swim platform and hidden under the cockpit sole. Large opening transom doors (2) swing inboard for loading and unloading the tender. A simple block and tackle system attaches to the bow of the dinghy and a cockpit pad-eye for ease of deployment and retrieval. There is excellent access to equipment and storage under the cockpit sole. A large insulated FRP locker forward and to port of the pilothouse threshold provides space for docklines and misc gear or can be filled with ice and function as a large exterior cooler. Access to the pilothouse interior and the ladder to the flybridge is slightly off center and to starboard. Additional locker space is forward of the FB ladder.
Flybridge: The flybridge has the full functionality of the lower helm station with GPS plotter, VHF and engine gauges/controls. Two swivel seats with arm rests serve the helm and port side of the bridge. An L-shaped settee with table is just aft of the flybridge and can comfortably seat 4 more adults. The flybridge t-top is supported by stainless steel tubing (removable for yacht transport or bridge clearance) and provides shade for all. There is a "widow's walk" aft of the settee with an FRP storage locker and good access to the boats mast (folds down.)
Interior: The pilothouse salon is palatial and luxurious. The teak cabin sole is trimmed out with highlights of recessed ebony wood. A large l-shaped settee to port can seat 4-5 people and includes a large teak folding dining table. Custom cabinetry to starboard provides generous storage and functions as the navigation table. A fully equipped helm with destroyer-type wheel and array of electronics and gauges is forward of the dining table and to starboard. A side opening door to starboard of the Stidd helm seat provides great ventilation and access to the midship cleat and side decks for docking and anchoring.
Galley: The galley is forward of the salon and 4 steps down from the lower helm station. Open to the main salon, the galley is extremely bright and airy creating an inclusive feel to the upper level area. A fully equipped galley offers refrigeration and freezer, electric stove, microwave, stainless sink and large Corian counters. Large rectangular port lights bring in great natural light. The large breaker panel for AC and DC circuits is in the stairwell bulkhead. There is lots of galley storage with lockers all around the galley space.
Head/Shower: The head is large and cleverly laid out. The Corian counter/sink area wraps around behind the head that is tucked into a corner to provide more cabin sole space. The large stall shower with seat can be accessed via the head or the main berth. Lots of storage cubbies in the head for sheets, linens and towels. More natural light is provided in the head via the 2 rectangular port lights in the cabin sides.
Master Cabin/berth: The owners cabin is large with plenty of cabin sole area for dressing, entering the stall shower or stepping up and into the centerline berth. The hull is sheathed with varnished teak sheathing. Hanging lockers, drawers and additional cabinetry provide space for owner gear and personal items. Excellent natural light in the berth via the opening overhead hatch and rectangular port lights in the cabin sides. LED lighting is throughout the vessel and provides soft bronze light in all areas.
Main engines: Cummins QSC8.3 600HP @3000 rpm diesel engines. The engines are coupled to 322 Hamilton Water Jets that are controlled by a joystick, throttle and bow thruster system designed by Glendening. This Glendening system was just installed in 2025 and interfaces the bow thruster, nozzles and buckets for ease of boat handling. These engines are electronically controlled common rail fuel injected diesels. The engine control system is by Glendenning. Engine information is available on helm gauges to include oil pressure, coolant temp, battery voltage, marine gear oil pressure, boost pressure, fuel consumption, trip fuel, total fuel data and alarm codes.
Marine gear/driveline: The marine gears ar ZF301C gears with a 1.296:1 ratio. They are directly coupled to the main engines and drive the Hamilton jets with custom cardan-style drive shafts. The Hamilton Jets are model 322 and control propulsion, buckets and nozzles.
Fuel System: The boat carries approximately 568 gallons of diesel in three tanks. The tanks are tied together with a 2" manifold controlled with electric fuel valves. Fuel fill well is in the aft cockpit under the FB ladder. The boat has a fuel transfer pump and an Algae X polishing system. Supply and return manifolds are on the aft engine room bulkhead. The fuel transfer pump uses both manifolds to transfer fuel from the three fuel tanks. The fuel polishing system can be operated to filter one fuel tank at a time with an automatic timer.
Generator: Northern Lights M673L3 6KW. The generator is located on the port side at the forward end of the engine room. The genset start/stop panel is on the AC breaker panel with a selector between genset and shore power. The Genset has a sliding lock to choose between genset and shorepower.
Air Conditioning: The forward cabin and galley air conditioning (by Technicold) is provided by an air handler behind the freezer in the galley. The main salon air conditioning comes from an air handler located in the cabinet under the helm on the flybridge.
Air vents: The forward air vents in the main salon use a Frigelli linear actuator to operate flappers in three air pipes supplying the vents and equipped with limit switches.
Air Horn: The air horn is a Kahlenberg single horn. The air compressor and tank are located in the engine room (port forward end) There are horn switches at both lower and flybridge helm stations.
Bow thruster: The bow thruster is integrated in the Glendenning control system (new 2025). It is a Sidepower SE100 12VDC thruster. The thruster runs off the house battery bank.
Anchor system: The anchor windlass is a 12v Muir Atlantic 2500 vertical windlass. The windlass can be controlled at the helm or on the bow via foot switches. The bow anchor is a 30lb galvanized steel CQR and rigged to 3/8" chain with a total length of 100' attached to 200' of nylon anchor rode. Chain and rode are marked every 25'. The windlass runs off the house battery. The windlass can also operate from the flybridge with a remote control devise (that can also operate the bow thruster.)
Cabin Heaters: The main salon and forward cabin are equipped with 120VAC electric heaters.
Centerboard for vessel tracking: The boat is equipped with a small centerboard to assist in vessel tracking in a following sea. The draft of the boat is only 34" and with board down 4'6". The centerboard position is monitored by a VDO rudder angle indicator. The centerboard is controlled by rocker switches at the lower helm and flybridge. The centerboard uses a Lenco electric trim tab actuator to operate the arm that lifts the board.
Engine room ventilation: Port and stbd engine room blowers are controlled by a single rocker switch at the lower helm station (with breakers on the main DC panel) The system uses two 9" Delta fans to pull hot air from the engine room.
Fire extinguishing equipment: The boat is equipped with a Fireboy MA2-500 bottle located on the stbd side of the engine room. If the unit discharges it will shut down the main engines, generator and engine room blowers.
Fresh water system: The boat has a 195 gallon water capacity and the single tank is located under the forward berth. The freshwater pump is also in the vberth (stbd side) and inside a sound-proof locker. There is a 13 gallon hot water heater in the engine room. There is a 120VAC hot water heater (Isotemp basic water heater) as well with breakers on the AC panel. Fresh water tank level is monitored by a tank gauge at the helm. There is a washdown hose connection on the bow and hand-held shower in the stern. (There is also a salt water washdown at the bow.) The fresh water system pressure is supplied by a Headhunter X-caliber M/N XR-124 water pump with a Shurflo 182-200 pressure tank. The fresh water tank is an integral fiberglass tank built into the hull under the forward berth.
Grey Water tank and pump: The galley sink, head sink and shower drain into a 35-40 gallon grey water tank located forward of the holding tank under the galley sole and is controlled by a breaker on the DC panel. This tank is an integral tank built into the keel. Grey water tank levels are monitored at the helm and overboard pumping must be done manually as there is no float switch.
Head and holding tank: The head uses fresh water from the boats fresh water system and operates via a switch on a touch pad in the head. The holding tank holds 60 gallons and is located under the galley sole. This tank is also an in integral tank built into the keel aft of the grey water tank. The holding tank level can be monitored at the helm as well. The tank can be emptied via a macerator pump at the DC panel or via the dockside fitting on the port rail. The head can also be operated using saltwater via valves in the engine room.
Tank Gauges: The fuel, fresh water, grey water and black water tanks are monitored by BEP gauges. The fuel tanks also have a sight glass on centerline hooked to the center tank and marked every 50 gallons.
Propane: A vented propane locker is located in the starboard side deck for the galley stove.
Refrigerator and Freezers: The galley refrigerator and freezers are Isotherm units. The units are wired to shut down if the voltage drops below 11.7 volts. Both units run off the 12VDC panel but the freezer can also be run off the 120VAC system.
Trim tabs: The 12VDC tabs are custom fiberglass trim tabs operated by Bennett cylinders. The trim tabs operate from the dual rocker switch at the main and flybridge stations. Trim tab position indicators are located above the rocker switch control. The trim tabs have a auto-retract feature that is enabled by turning off the engine key switches.
Wipers: The windshield wiper (Exalto) and washer system operate from the Imtra wiper control panel at the helm. Water for the wipers comes from the fresh water system.
Bilge pumps and switches: The forward bilge has a Rule 2000 with the ultra safety system combo switch; pump/high water alarm. The engine room has two Rule 2000 bilge pumps with USS switches as well. An additional high water bilge pump is located on the aft engine room bulkhead. The lazarette has a Rule 2000 with USS switch and located at the forward end of the centerboard trunk and has an additional float switch with high water alarm. The bilge pumps are all powered direct from the house battery bank. The engine room high water pump and high water alarms are powered direct by engine battery bank. The Arrid bilge system located in the lazarette is a model Series 2 Nano with two pickups, one in the engine room and one in the lazarette.
12 VDC House System: The batteries are controlled by a rocker switch at the lower helm station. The switch operates a remote battery switch located in the lazarette. Power from the house bank feeds the Main 12VDC panel located to the left of the lower helm station going down the galley steps. The stbd engine alternator charges the house bank. The port alternator charges the starting bank. A Victron Energy Multiplus inverter/charger will charge the house battery bank when AC power is available via genset or shore power. In the event of a failure of the house battery bank the house loads can be switched to the engine start bank by turning on the manual parallel switch located in the DC power select panel cabinet.
AC Power: The AC power is generally controlled from the AC section of the combined AC/DC panel loccated on the stbd side of the steps leading to the galley.
Shorepower: The boat is equipped with a 50amp 120VAC shorepower inlet in the cockpit and includes an isolation transformer and galvanic isolator. The main AC breaker has a sliding lock to choose between shorepower and generator. The power then goes in and out of the inverter/charger through circuit breakers on the panel.
Inverter/Charger: The Victron Energy Multiplus charger/inverter is rated at 3000W at 120VAC. The unit is located on the stbd side and behind the helm seat. The unit has a built in transfer switch to pass power on to the AC panel (from genset or shorepower.) This charger also charges the 12VDC house battery bank with 120V output. When 120VAC power is not available it switches to inverter mode and supplies up to 3000W to the main panel via house battery bank. A green wire bonding system runs throughout the boat. This includes submerged metallic components, main engines, generator, AC equipment, fuel tanks/fills, seacocks and DC system.
DC System: The house battery bank is located on the port side lazerette. The bank consists of 3 Lifeline AGM 8D batteries with an individual amp hour capacity of 255 at the 20 hr discharge rate. The batteries are connected in parallel and function as one large 12VDC bank. The bank is charged via the Victron charger, shorepower or genset. The bank is also charged via the stbd engine 130 amp alternator. The house bank is controlled by a rocker switch at the helm station. The engine start bank is located at the front end or the engine room. The bank consists of 5 Optima AGM batteries hooked up in parallel. The start bank starts both main engines and the genset. Power to the main engines is controlled by a rocker switch at the helm station. The genset has a manual power switch located in the DC power select cabinet. The port engine alternator charges the engine start bank. The gensets alternator charges the engine start bank too.
Lighting: Lighting can be turned on via switches at the DC lighting circuits on the main DC panel. There are separate switches for salon lighting, cockpit lighting, galley, forward cabin lighting, head and shower.
Navigation and Electronics:
* Flybridge - (1) Large Garmin touch screen for GPS plotter and Radar, VHF (1), (2) Smart Craft engine instrument panels and side-power bow thruster controls.
* Lower helm station - (2) Large Garmin touch screens for GPS plotter and Radar, VHF (1), Smart Craft engine instrument panels (2) and side power bow thruster controls.
The entire vessel is composite construction. The hull is 1 3/4" thick and consists of several layers of fiberglass with high density foam sandwiched between the outer and inner skins. There is a layer of kevlar on the bottom up to the water line.
There is a crash bulkhead forward. The compartment forward of this bulkhead is the locker for the anchor rode. The compartment has two sections. There are drain holes through the topsides for each section.
The forward compartment is from the crash bulkhead to the engine room bulkhead. There is one bilge pump in this compartment and no seacocks. There are several thru hulls for overboard discharge; all above the waterline.
