World Cat 330 TE: BoatTEST Review
Overview
The WorldCat 330TE, crafted by the Tarboro, North Carolina-based company WorldCat, is a versatile vessel designed to cater to a broad spectrum of anglers, from family leisure outings to competitive offshore tournament fishing. This model emphasizes smooth, stable, and consistent performance, combining advanced design elements to deliver an exceptional fishing experience.
Exterior Design and Deck Features
The 330TE features a vector flow design paired with hydro ram technology, resulting in a smoother and softer ride compared to many competing catamarans and monohulls. The bow area is accessible via two large steps and includes a windlass, anchor pulpit, and spacious lockers for fenders and ground tackle. Along each side, the boat is equipped with electronic trolling gear connections, stainless steel cup holders, and multiple rod racks. A large macerated fish box is also positioned conveniently. A newly designed front bench seat incorporates an insulated cooler or storage compartment beneath. The optional fiberglass hardtop enhances comfort during extended trips, featuring five rod holders across the back and three on each side for trolling. Additional exterior amenities include handrails, mounting flats for antennas and taco-out riggers, built-in ladders at the rear corners for easy access, an aimable pin spotlight, and fixed tri-color navigation lights.
Helm and Electronics
The helm station is thoughtfully arranged with split electronics boxes designed for radios and other devices, complemented by a long compartment for charts and loose items. A 12-volt socket is integrated for charging mobile devices. The helm accommodates upgrades such as Suzuki electronic gauges and a large lockable center space for LCD panels. Standard features include Teleflex power assist steering, with an available upgrade to a Teleflex electronic fly-by-wire control system. The elevated footrest doubles as a spacious storage box, while the front of the helm seat houses taco boxes and a battery management system, a notable new addition to this model.
Fishing and Preparation Amenities
The 330TE is equipped with a newly designed bait station serving as a prep center, featuring a removable tray for easy cleaning, a deep sink, and both fresh and raw water washdown capabilities. Magnetic latches replace traditional finger latches for improved durability and ease of use. Underneath the bait station, ample storage is provided for tackle organization, including drawers and compartments. Side benches can be stowed to create additional fighting space, and power connections for trolling gear are conveniently located in each corner. The boat’s gunnel tops and floors are coated with aggressive grip surfaces for safety, with recessed handrails to minimize line tangling. Five rod holders are installed along each side, complemented by toe kick space and cushioned gunnel pads extending the length of the cockpit. Tip-out tackle storage boxes and bins are positioned on both sides for quick access during trolling. The walk-through features a flip-over top with an integrated cutting board, which can be replaced when worn. Optional swim extensions and dive ladders, along with sturdy rails, enhance the boat’s utility.
Dimensions and Performance
Measuring 34 feet in length overall with a beam of 10 feet 6 inches, the 330TE draws 16 inches of water and is yacht certified. It is rated to accommodate twin 300 horsepower outboard engines, as demonstrated in testing with twin Suzuki 300s. The vessel exhibits excellent handling characteristics, capable of executing tight, stable turns while maintaining a smooth and dry ride even in choppy conditions. During trials, the boat achieved a comfortable cruising speed of 20.1 miles per hour at 3,000 RPM, yielding a range of approximately 494 miles from its 300-gallon fuel tank. The top recorded speed was 48.6 miles per hour.
Conclusion
The WorldCat 330TE stands out as a highly capable and well-equipped fishing platform, blending innovative design with practical features tailored for serious anglers. Its combination of advanced hull technology, thoughtful fishing amenities, and reliable performance make it a compelling choice for both tournament competitors and recreational fishermen seeking a stable, efficient, and comfortable vessel.
