"Southern Cross" is an exceptional West Bay Sonship 74' Motor Yacht, with a 20' beam, and timeless design, she defines luxury yachting at it's best. During the original build, of the "Zero TRIM' in 1997-1998, I took the buyer to West Bay Shipyard over 50 times while we were supervising the build from start to finish. It was an incredible experience for all that were involved, as a result, the build pushed West Bay to another level of semi custom boat building, that continued on every boat built there after.
The yacht features a four stateroom, three bath layout, including a large midships master stateroom, with spacious ensuite bathroom, featuring heated towel bars, walk in port and starboard closets, along with generous storage. The diferance between a West Bay and other brands in this size range is the full 20' beam and walk around decks. The boat has always been moored in fresh water. She is powered with a pair of Detroit 8 V 92 TA engines with approximately 3900 hours, they produce a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of well over 20 knots, she will take you any where in comfort and style.
The yacht has been meticulously maintained since day one. The second and current owners went through an extensive, 8 month exterior refit from October of 2020 to the summer of 2021. The yacht's paint was stripped from top to bottom in preparation for a completely new "Algrip" paint job, which included a new black boot stripe, and bottom paint. A new electric stern thruster was installed, 5 new pilot house front windows were replaced, and all other windows were resealed. New house, starting and generators batteries were replaced. A new Barrett's flull flybridge enclosure was also added at the same time. All maintenance is up to date and done on a regular basis, "Southern Cross" is ready for cruising this summer.
Instead of crews quarters "Souther Cross" boasts a very large lazarette, housing many spare parts, a custom Webasto hydronic heating system, stacked Trace 4000 watt inverters, and water sport toys. The boat has a Yacht Controller system that makes docking with the bow and stern thruster effortleess.
