Wellington Walkthrough

The Wellington 44 is a center-cockpit, blue-water cruiser with excellent stability, and spacious interior. It was designed by Bill Wellington and built by Wellington Boats Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida. A walkthrough reveals an open layout with distinct living spaces that are comfortable at anchor and functional while underway.

Exterior and cockpit

  • Deck and hull: The decks are wide and clear, providing safe passage to the bow and stern.
  • Aft deck: Offers a large, open area for lounging and includes a custom storage box, LED lighting, and S/S stern pulpit and rails for safety and security.
  • Cockpit: The center cockpit configuration allows for a large aft master cabin below. A new custom bimini and dodger covers the entire cockpit area with windows or screens and also has covers.
  • Sailing hardware: Cutter rigged with a Pro Furl roller furling mainsail and two Pro Furl roller furling headsails (genoa and staysail). The rigging is managed by 10 new self-tailing winches with all lines led aft to the cockpit.

Interior layout

  • Main salon: Entering the salon from the cockpit, the area is bright and airy, thanks to large extra thick (9/16" Lexan) fixed portlights. It features a large U-shaped dinette to port and a navigation station and pilot berth to starboard. Well crafted interior mahogany woodwork, including a refinished teak and holly sole.
  • Galley: The U-shaped galley is located aft of the dinette and is designed for safe and comfortable cooking while cruising. It includes a new gimbled Force 10 propane stove and oven, Two Engel top-loading refrigerator/freezers with third Norcold refrigerator/freezer across from galley. Double stainless steel sink with R/O, tank, and saltwater faucets.
  • Forward companionway: A short companionway leads to the ensuite guest head and forward cabin.
  • Forward cabin: This cabin has a V-berth with fans, LED lighting, HVAC controls and vent with storage drawers underneath and a hanging locker.
  • Forward head: A head (plumbed for a shower) is located just outside the forward cabin and also serves as the day head.
  • Aft companionway: A starboard companionway with hanging locker for foul weather gear and potential work bench leads from the salon aft toward the master stateroom.
  • Master stateroom: Occupying the boat's full beam, the spacious master cabin features an athwartships ventilated queen berth, ample storage lockers and drawers, a private ensuite head and separate walk-in shower stall.

Refit Information - 2023

Wonder is a very special and unique Wellington 44 - or any sailboat for that matter. Her current owner, 6'4" 280 lbs found the 44 to be very roomy with spacious headroom in the deck salon. Special care was taken by the Owner and his ABYC Certified Project Manager/Marine Surveyor, to leave no stone unturned in her refit. If something was found that was not RIGHT - it was repaired or replaced.

Wonder is a wonder to see and not to be missed if you are looking for a fully found and prepared offshore vessel.
