Overview

The Wellcraft 232 Fisherman is a versatile and well-equipped boat designed specifically for serious anglers. It offers a range of standard features that enhance both functionality and comfort, making it a capable vessel for various fishing activities. The boat is rated to accommodate up to 300 horsepower, allowing for either single or twin engine configurations, with the test model equipped with a Yamaha 200.

Helm and Control Station

The helm of the 232 Fisherman is thoughtfully laid out with the compass aligned directly in front of the operator rather than centered on the console, improving visibility and ease of use. The dashboard provides 21 inches of open space for mounting electronics, with potential for expansion by relocating the stereo to a lower position to accommodate dual or larger displays. All rocker switches are waterproof and mounted on a non-glare aluminum backing plate. The digital engine controls are positioned at an approximate 80-degree angle, facilitating comfortable operation, and trim tab controls are conveniently placed within easy reach. Beneath the deck are two 38-gallon fish boxes with overboard drains, secured with stainless steel struts and fully gasketed hatches. The foredeck is treated with non-skid material and is sufficiently wide to serve as an elevated casting platform. A standard anchor roller and a hawse hole provide efficient anchor and rode storage, accessible via a hatch for easy tangle management.

Interior Amenities

Inside the console, the 232 Fisherman includes a standard porta potty housed within a fiberglass-lined compartment that allows full access to console rigging. An opening port light provides ventilation and natural light, enhancing comfort during extended outings.
