A big boat for her size, the Viking 57 MY is a spin-off of the original Gulfstar/Viking 55 hull with the extra length used to add space in the engine room for lift mufflers and -- on the deck-house level -- a more spacious aft deck. She's built on a fully cored hull with a relatively wide beam, a shallow keel, and moderate transom deadrise. Her galley-up four-stateroom floor-plan is arranged with with full-width salon separated from the galley and dinette. A queen berth is located in the amidships VIP guest cabin, and all three heads have stall-showers. The engine room is entered from the utility room aft of the salon. The upscale decor of the Viking 57 -- teak woodwork, Corian counter-tops, etc. -- was quite impressive back in the early 1990s. Additional features include service decks around the house, a bow pulpit, foredeck seating, and quiet lift-type mufflers (not the baffled exhausts of the 55 MY) in the engine room. Standard 820hp MANs will cruise the Viking 57 MY at 19-20 knots (23 knots top)
